Hi ladies needed some advice I'm due soon with my first child. And was wondering what's best for me ? My flat isn't huge but should I use the Moses basket near the bed when baby is born or buy a bedside crib which attaches to the bed ? What have you found easier ?

I wouldn't spend a huge amount on either, because depending on how big they are they may outgrow it within a few months and need a full size cot by then.
Where will they be napping in the day? If you got a moses basket you could move it between bedroom/living room?

@Newbee123 We’re also in a flat, and I’ve bought a Snuzpod. Can be in our room at night attached to the bed if we want but the whole top lifts off and can be moved around the house as a Moses basket which is handy for us to move next door into the lounge during the day. Think I paid about £220 all in for the Snuzpod/sheets/mattress/mattress protector/storage pouch & white noise machine bundle 😊

I really liked the next2me - brilliant for night time feeds

In the day time we used her pram carry-cot for naps (it’s completely flat)
Seemed logical to use it rather than buying a separate Moses basket

@DaisyChainsForever the baby will be napping in Moses basket during the day I already have that it was a hand me down so that saved me money !

I've bought the SnuzPod Bundle too! Not tried it out yet so can't say my opinion but looks really good

I opted for last baby and for my expectant baby for a Moses basket. I didn’t want to have two sleep items- I can carry to Moses basket to the living room etc for day naps.
It’s also such a small amount Of time they are in a side crib- 3/4 months for me- so I spent £50-£70 on our Moses baskets new.

@RWK29 that's really good !

I also live in a flat so have limited room, my DS1 started out in a Moses basket but he never settled in it so after 2 months we bought a next to me crib and it was amazing... deffo using again for baby number 2 xx

I’ve bought the next2me magic crib as hopefully it will last longer and I have a Moses basket for downstairs. Maybe check the measurements to see what will fit?
We had to move our bed along so that’s there’s more space on our side so it fits with enough space so I can get out of bed too x

We used a Snuzpod and it was great. She didn't really take to the Moses basket!

Pinktruffle · 12/09/2020 14:01

I bought a Snuzpod as they can be in them for about 6 months, they dont last very long in moses baskets and I would have then had to buy a next to me crib from my experience with nieces/nephews. My Snuzpod can be taken downstairs easily. Baby will go in to their own at 6 months and we have a cot in there.

Pinktruffle · 12/09/2020 14:02

Also we are limited in space and Snuzpkd was the smallest of the next to me cribs. I got it in the sale at John Lewis for £159

Both of mine used a Moses basket until they started rolling over (about 4/5 months), I was given them from q relative who had twins a few months prior and having one up/downstairs was handy!

SylvanianFrenemies · 12/09/2020 14:06

Moses basket worked well in a flat for us - just carried it room to room as needed.

fedupandlookingforchange · 12/09/2020 14:11

Moses basket, I have it on a plastic box next to the bed. DS used his moses basket for 7 months. Bought a cheap new one for DD

Twizbe · 12/09/2020 14:13

Bedside crib and a playpen.

I've yet to see a Moses basket that wasn't ugly. Also babies tend to grow out of them very fast.

A bedside crib will last a lot longer and a play pen can be used for daytime naps in the living room / containing a baby on the move.

We have gone for a tutti bambini cozee which is a bedside crib. I personally would go for that style because it gives the option to have the side open by the bed, they also tend to be bigger so baby will last in them for longer.

The tutti is really good because it doesnt need to be built, the legs click out making it easy to move and put up. You could also take it if you go away etc.
