Blood in uterus on scan at 7 weeks

Have had a rough year so far - have been pregnant three times in 6 months and I’m unsure how this current pregnancy is going to end.

I’m just 7 weeks and have had a lot of cramping and pain from 5 weeks onwards. Yesterday I had a small bleed coupled with pain all down left side, dizziness and disturbed vision. Ended up in a&e where I was scanned - I think they suspected ectopic. Found baby with a heartbeat measuring spot on. I should feel relieved by gynae also spotted blood in my uterus and said this was not normal. He also said there is nothing I can do to change what will happen, I just need to wait and see. He didn’t seem optimistic given my previous two miscarriages this year and my current pain and bleeding 😔

My question is - has anyone experienced this? Is there anything at all I can do? I’m feeling so helpless and anxious and would welcome and advice at all.

Although the Dr is an expert I would gently disagree with their use of vocabulary. It's called a Subchorionic Haematoma and it is quite common and although can be a problem in some cases, it can also have absolutely no impact on the pregnancy at all, if it doesn't interfere with the placenta. I've had one in the past which unfortunately bled and bled until I lost the pregnancy but I also have one this time and have not had any bleeding at all so far.

I have had heavy bleeding in three pregnancies, two were perfectly fine. The third was not.

The difference with the miscarriage was the sack, and then baby once there was a heartbeat, were measuring a week too small for dates, the bleeding was behind the sack, and I had large clots.

If you are not already, call your early pregnancy unit and get booked in for a follow-up scan. Mine were every 7-10 days so they could keep an eye on the the haematoma.

Thank you both.
I have another scan early next week. I hate the waiting and feeling stuck in limbo.

Does anyone know if there is anything I could do to help myself?

I had a sch with my current pregnancy following two miscarriages both pre-12 weeks. I bled from 7-13 weeks on and off. Currently 19 weeks and no more bleeding! I got my GP to sign me off work and rested as much as possible, no sex (advised by midwife) until bleeding stopped completely for 1 week - not sure this helped but i feel like it did as previous miscarriages were bleeding first and i carried on as normal.

Keep positive (harder said than done i know) xx

Nothing really x keep yourself well hydrated and avoid anything containing aspirin (think antacids etc). There is also some suggestion that avoiding/reducing caffeine can help. But it's very much out of your hands.

Thanks both

@Hrcg87 yes gynae did say to avoid sex for a couple of weeks but that’s all the advice I got. I also carried on as normal with last two miscarriages once bleeding started, wondered about trying to rest more. Tricky with my toddler to look after as well but I’m desperate to try anything

@calimommy yes I’ve stopped my low dose aspirin which I was taking (ironically because of the consecutive miscarriages this year!) x
