Flu jab

Hello,

My midwife asked me to book my flu jab asap (I'm 28 weeks) and I just rang my gp who said their two flu jab clinics are full so I'm on a waiting list and have to wait and see if a space becomes available. Should I wait a few weeks and then bring it up with the midwife at my 31 week call or should I do something about it sooner? I've never been in an at risk group before but my midwife was emphatic that it was important to have it done before flu season kicked off. Am not sure where I could go and get one if my gp can't do it. I'm happy to pay if needed, do Boots etc offer them?

You don't need to pay - boots or a local chemist will offer them free of charge to you. You might just need to show your maternity exemption card.

Ah ok I didn't know about an exemption card. I don't have another appointment until 31 weeks so guess I'll just have to ask then.

You can book through Boots online and it's free if you're pregnant, no need to show anything, that's what I've done, much quicker than getting an appointment at the doctors!

Yes or Lloyd’s pharmacy! They have slots here from late September onwards. Good luck. Definitely get it sooner rather than later if you can.

Didn't you get it emailed to you? I don't think they give you a card anymore. I didn't remember getting it but just found it on my email.

@welshladywhois40 no, noone has even mentioned it. The only form I've had is my MatB1 which I got at my 28 week appt.

Do ring your midwife, you are entitled to free prescriptions and dental treatment for your pregnancy and until your baby is 1 year old. They can do your application online or if they've not signed up to that yet they send off a paper form.
