Leaking breasts grossing me out!!

Before I was pregnant I always assumed I would breastfeed and I understand that if possible it’s really beneficial for baby.

I’m 32 weeks and have been leaking colostrum for ages now... but it really grosses me out!!! The amounts leaking has been gradually increasing and it really makes me queasy seeing yellow stains on my breast pads or T-shirt’s when I wake up. Did anyone else feel this way and go on to successful breastfeed, or shall I order the perfect prep machine now? Confused

It’s pretty normal but it is worth sticking with it to be able to breastfeed the little one.

Breastfeeding is really handy, food on tap wherever you are and for "free", I've been doing it for nearly 22 months and if I leak in still a bit like "eurgh" but the leaking doesn't go on forever (I leaked briefly recently because she was cluster feeding because of teething and what I now
Know was a drop in my supply because my period was coming)

Yeah - without a baby around to feed, leaking nipples feel pointless and weird!

Everything clicks into place when you can actually use them to feed your own baby though. It suddenly feels pretty cool and is mega convenient compared to having to prep bottles etc!

Oh yes I was totally repulsed but it! Then someone suggested I harvest the colostrum and save it 😱 I was a little worried this feeling of horror would stop me breastfeeding but it's a totally different feeling when you have an actual baby there.

I had a bit of a rocky start, but still feeding an almost two year old so definitely worth giving it a go! I'd advise being prepared that it will hurt a bit at the start, and having the name for la leche league/other support groups that are local so you can give someone a ring if the latch isn't right/you think there's a tongue tie. Once things settled down it's been easy, pain free and a joy: but yep, totally grossed out during pregnancy when that milk started to come in.

I felt the same. I actually didn't want to breastfeed as the thought of it freaked me out. I bought some formula ready, but eventually decided I wanted to try and give her the first couple of days milk to give her a good start.
The first day I had my baby she was struggling to latch and it was suggested I hand express into a syringe for her. I couldn't do it, I didn't want anything coming out of them. I actually made my poor husband try and express for me.
Day 4 my milk came in and it was extricating for a day.
But after that it felt normal, like it was supposed to be there to feed my girl. I ended up breastfeeding for 10 months.
If you don't want to do it then don't. There is absolutely nothing wrong with formula feeding. But don't rule it out until the baby is here as you might feel differently.

Yes. Me.

I only leaked once in pregnancy and it totally freaked / creeped me out.
But I bf my lovely baby from the recovery room right through to 13 months (exclusively for the first 6mo) with no squeamishness at all.

I breast fed my first until he was 3. Stoped feeding him when I was about 25 weeks pregnant. Spent from about 28 weeks pregnant to birth stressing out that I wouldn’t be able to feed the next one as it felt too weird to breastfeed. She’s 6 weeks I’m breast feeding her, it didn’t feel at all weird once she was born.
Don’t worry about it. You’ll either breast feed her or not. There are advantages and disadvantages to both options and actually I’m mix feeding this time.
