Hello, I just had my 32 week midwife appointment and have put on 7.5kg so far. (was 62kg now 69k.5kg). This seems so much :(
Does anyone know if that is normal? Or have I been eating too much?
How much have you put on? Thank you

Doesn’t sound like mich?

What was your bmi before?

If it was a healthy weight I think somewhere around 22-28lbs is roughly average

Personally I started at bmi 22 and gained 3 stone, then lost it all in 6 months x

I'm also 32 weeks and have gone from 60kgs to 71.5kgs so you are less than me!

I have been using this calculator www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html to ensure I am in the right range for each week

Here is a breakdown of where most of the weight goes

Baby: 7.5 pounds
Placenta: 1.5 pounds
Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds
Uterine enlargement: 2 pounds
Maternal breast tissue: 2 pounds
Maternal blood volume: 4 pounds
Fluids in maternal tissue: 4 pounds
Maternal fat stores: 7 pounds

I was 56kg at the start of my pregnancy, I'm 33 weeks now and I'm 69kg, I'm a little bit over what i've seen recommended from the week I'm at but joint pain combined with just leaving the house for exercise and I'm trying to be kind to myself about it.
My bmi was 20 before so if i can still be in the healthy range afterwards but not quite so slim then i ll accept it.

I gained 10kg throughout my pregnancy, went to 40+6

motherf88 · 10/09/2020 13:49

I honestly wouldn't worry about it! As long as you aren't eating lots of crap you'll be fine. I generally ate pretty healthily during pregnancy (as I do usually) but with the odd small everyday extra treat (which I definitely didn't need). I put on around 2 stone with each pregnancy and lost it relatively quickly/easily afterwards with sensible eating/walking/breastfeeding.

If you are eating packs and packs of biscuits maybe cut down, but you are growing a baby so weight gain is to be expected!

MumMrs85 · 10/09/2020 21:36

I went from 60kg to 81kg in my my first pregnancy, I am 22 weeks now with my 2nd and probably on track to put on the same again!

So yours sounds far more than reasonable. I lost it all without too much effort within a year after. Don't sweat it, as long as you're healthy and keeping mobile.

crazychemist · 10/09/2020 21:38

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about weight gain unless it is excessive. Different women carry different amounts of fluid anyway! If you’re eating healthily and staying as mobile as possible, try not to worry.

Smarshian · 10/09/2020 21:41

I went from 10stone to 15stone in my first pregnancy!
Lost 2.5stone in 10 days after giving birth, then another stone in the next 10. Was back to almost normal about 5 months later.
I wouldn’t worry, everyone is different.

PolarBearStrength · 10/09/2020 21:46

I’ve gained 10kg so far at 32 weeks which doesn’t include the 3 or 4 kg I lost due to sickness initially and then regained. I’d already gained 10kg at 28 weeks but I seem to be stuck at this weight for now! In my last pregnancy I only gained about 11 or 12kg but suspect I’ll gain a bit more this time.

7.5kg is quite a small amount to have gained really and it’s a temporary state. Why are you so upset about being heavier? Your body is growing to accommodate and nourish your child.

Thank you for all your replies.
I think I was just a bit shocked as I haven't weighed myself since 8 weeks and was just shocked at how much I had put on, but it seems like I am in the normal range :)
Obviously I just want a healthy baby and that is all that matters, but just wanted reassurance that it wasn't excessive weight gain. Thank you again.
