Local lockdown. Would I have to shield ?

The area I live in , is facing potential lock down after a increase in cases
I work in a supermarket in a town centre that is surrounded by pubs / nightlife where a lot of these cases have come from
Also the company I work for has taken away all measures so customers can walk straight to the checkouts , & of course no one is social distancing anymore
I wear a mask in work / on my way to work & of course I sanitise regularly

I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant. Would I have to go into shielding if we went into local lockdown ?
I can't find any information on it , only if you're in the third trimester
A few people have asked me if I'd go into shielding , so it's got me wondering

Thanks

@kirstenn123
Shielding stopped for every reason in august, so technically no one has to do it and you could ask for a risk assessment at work but there's no legal rights other than that.
I live in a local lockdown area and it's no different guidelines for vulnerable people than the rest of the country. I just made the decision to go much further than the guidelines suggest to as it feels like it's money over health risks and with asthma in my 3rd trimester it's not worth the risk for me.

Pregnancy was never a reason for shielding.

I was in my third trimester when my area went into local lockdown. I didn't have to shield but being in a vulnerable category the advice was to be extra cautious about following social distancing and hand washing etc and to minimise any unnecessary interactions otherwise there was no difference to the general population.

Pregnancy was never a reason for shielding in itself, though pregnant women with certain heart issues were on the list. Your cardiologist should be able to advise if you should join the shield list (which still exists, though currently paused). And then you shield if your local lockdown recalls shielded people back indoors (complete shielding) or only out for daily outdoors exercise

If you are not under a cardiologist, it's very unlikely you'd need to shield

But it would be prudent for you to follow local advice for the 'flu jab' group (pregnant, elderly, obese, moderately medically vulnerable)
