Advice on clothes size after birth

Due at the end of November so at Christmas / new year I could be from 3-5 weeks post partum.
Looking to buy a couple of outfits so I have some nice, comfortable, flattering clothes to wear over the festive period.
When I was pregnant with my ds I gained 3 stones at due date and after he was born wore forgiving / stretchy clothes in a size bigger than I was before for the first couple of months.
With this pregnancy I'm 28 weeks and have only gained 10lbs so far so looking at a smaller weight gain, should i still just choose the size up or pre-pregnancy size but in stretchy fabrics / elasticated waist bands?

Might be worth buying online when you have had baby. I put on 3stone and lost half of that within a few weeks. I am a size up in all clothes except trousers which were 2 sizes. I can fit back in some of my old stuff like stretchy/baggy things. It really depends what you want to wear. You might get bored of baggy after a few weeks!

Worried about festive delivery times if I wait too late, might be no time to send anything back.
Maybe I should wait until a couple of weeks before I'm due and see how much weight I've gained at that point for an estimate.
After ds 14lbs came off basically instantly, another 14lbs over a couple of months and I had to work on the last stone.
I'm hoping with gaining a lot less weight this time (unless I hugely pile it on in the next 12 weeks) that I'll be back to pre pregnancy weight within a few weeks. Although I know my ribcage and hips might be wider.

I like the look of these 3 dresses. The wrap is a true wrap dress so is adjustable and the 2 more casual dresses are elasticated at the back. The zip fronts look good for boob access too.

No advice sorry as it's my first pregnancy but that first dress is gorgeous!

It really is isn't it. I'm loathe to buy it in a bigger size actually as I know I'll want to rewear it several times and don't want it to swap me eventually x

No experience as 31 weeks pregnant with my first. Good proportion of my maternity dresses should look ok after birth, hopefully the cut is forgiving enough to give me some leeway over first few months.
I like your idea of wrap dresses!

I didn't put on much weight in pregnancy and fitted into some of my prepregnancy dressed into my 3rd trimester where the smallest point was under the bust. I'm now 3 weeks post partum and have two maternity dress in the same style and they fit perfectly and you would never know they were maternity clothing. I haven't tried on any of my prepregnancy clothes yet as I'm mostly living in t shirts and leggings and my old clothes are still packed away.

In terms of changes to my body my breast have gone up 2 cups sizes and my waist and stomach aren't quite back to normal about 80% there though.

@Superscientist how much weight did you gain if you don't mind me asking?

Around 14-16 lbs from my prepregnancy weight. I was back at this weight around 10 days post partum but my stomach still had some shrinkage to do.
