Reduced movement at 23 weeks but strong heartbeat, should I be concerned?

I went into the maternity assessment unit last night due to my baby’s reduced movements and kicks when they were happening feeling very light. I do have anterior placenta but previously I was feeling her kick quite a lot. I was examined not scanned but midwife found a strong heart beat. She still has reduced movements today.. should I be worried? 😞 I’ve heard stories where although heartbeat has been found baby has later been discovered to being unwell

What did the maternity ward say to do if the reduced movements continued?

I went in for reduced movements once and after a satisfactory ctg trace we were allowed home. They said to call back if I was still unsatisfied with her movements. At my maternity unit I think scans and further investigations were triggered by repeated episodes of reduced movements or prolonged periods of reduced movements (more than 24h). If you are concerned call back, just because they were happy with only checking the heart beat the first time that doesn't mean it will be the only thing they do the second time.

I was just about to post something similar. I am almost 23 weeks with an anterior placenta. I was feeling the baby's movement everyday since last 1 week and suddenly it stopped a day ago. Almost 24 hours now without a movement. I called my maternity unit as I wanted to get checked but they did not invite me in. Just said it's very common at this stage to sometimes not feel movements for a few days and that the baby might be hidden in the pelvic region etc. I really wanted to get checked but I guess I can't do that now. Might get a private scan in a day or two if I still can't feel the movements.

I wasn't feeling much early on but was told that they would only monitor after 28 weeks.

I went in recently as the kicks went from being really strong to light and infrequent. They monitored twice and there was a strong heartbeat but I was worried about the cause of it. Had a scan today and they check growth and blood flow and all seemed ok..even saw a kick on the scan that I didn't feel! Perhaps down to the anterior placenta and change in position

I'm 28 weeks, my baby is still wriggling around at the usual times I would expect but his kicks are alot lighter. He was head down though a few weeks back & I can quite often feel what seems to be his back against my stomach, so i'm assuming I'm only getting taps from his heel now rather then the full force of his whole foot?

I phoned the maternity unit just now as I haven't really felt the baby moving this morning. The woman I spoke with seemed quite casual about it and said at 26 weeks it's not uncommon to have reduced movements. I can't say she's put my mind at rest really. Baby has been moving a lot over last couple of weeks and the kicks are quite pronounced.

I've a bottle of lucozade in the freezer which I'm going to drink and playing music to my belly, see if I can wake baby up

There is often a big growth spurt around 24 weeks, so her energy may be going into that.

Keep a diary of movements to reassure yourself.
