Pregnancy insomnia

36 weeks pregnant today with second baby and the pregnancy insomnia is just getting worse.
I feel like I will get more sleep when the baby is here.
Not sleeping during the day either and my sleeping pattern seems to be between 5am - 10am.
So much I need to get done during the day but can’t due to exhaustion and then at night time I’m wide awake but don’t want to wake the household with my cleaning.
Half of the problem is due to restless legs, does anybody have any tips on how to deal with the restless legs or insomnia?

No tips on how to cope but just wanted to say I'm right there with you- except it's my 2 year old waking me up in the night now. When she does I can't get back to sleep. It sucks.

Same! 31 weeks tomorrow and haven’t slept throughout the night or long enough to feel rested since around 13 weeks!

Feeling your pain! 34 weeks here and the main culprit is leg cramps for me. Have you tried an epsom salt bath before bed? Seems to help my leg cramps and noticed when I was reading about epsom salts they have been used to help restless legs too.

I found last time my restless legs got better once I'd had my low iron diagnoses and was prescribed iron for it, ask for a blood test xx

I struggled for a while with insomnia (I couldn’t sleep between about 3-6am most nights). It started about 28 weeks and lasted for over a month. I still wake up early a couple of times a week but it feels a lot more manageable now.
I second recommendation for Epsom salt. Really find a bath helps. I also have a magnesium moisture lotion I put on my legs and shoulders which also seems to help. Other than that I try to be as relaxed as possible about it and just sleep whenever I can. Getting stressed and worried just made it worse.

Could you try a hot water bottle on your legs at night? This really helps me. My sympathies, I had this and it was awful. I still suffer from RLS. It does go away after birth though- promise!

@Simplyabbie I feel the same. I fall asleep at about midnight - wake at 1/2am then I lie awake until 6am. Restless legs, anxiety, intrusive thoughts etc....

At that point I tend to pass out and wake up for the alarm at 7am.

It's so hard getting out of bed and on with the day, working full time is a lot!

I agree with you that I think (yes I know we will be exhausted and forced to be awake more) that when the baby comes; I'll be so tired that I will sleep better, even if it's for 30 mins or so. At least when I close my eyes I might be able to sleep.
