34 weeks - boobs haven’t grown...will I have milk?!

I’ll be 34 weeks in 2 days and I assumed my boobs would start to get a lot better in pregnancy, kept waiting but no.
Does it mean I won’t get any milk? I so am hoping to breast feed and I can see lots of veins on my boobs but not sure if they should have grown or when milk actually comes in?

Mine didn't grow until 38 weeks, I feed until 19 months! Some women don't get any growth they still successfully breastfeed. Don't worry

Mine never really got any bigger (I.e stayed small!) and I’m still bf my 1 year old Smile

Mine were only bigger when they were full of milk, so a couple of weeks after birth. The milk doesn’t “come in” fully for a few days, your body produces colostrum first.

Mine didn’t grow until my milk came in 3 days post birth, then they were massive and I had loads of milk! Make sure you have baby latched on well after birth and lots of skin to skin etc to stimulate your supply, colostrum (the substance they get before your milk comes in) is tiny amounts so your boobs feeling the same size at first is fine. Once your milk comes in you’ll know about it.

Yes

BlacklashStarts · 31/08/2020 20:05

Yes, you will. Boob size and amount of milk aren’t correlated.

theresaplaceforus · 31/08/2020 20:06

This might sound like a silly question but how does your body know how to make the milk?!

Mine came in post c-section. Had a colostrum but no milk. Then 24 hours or so later i had suddenly Dolly Parton boobs. They were huuuuuge. Milk arrived Hmm

Oxytocin hormone releases after birth triggers milk production. Breast size is irrelevant.

Verybookish · 31/08/2020 20:21

As pp said, no correlation between size and amount. I am on the smallish scale boob wise but had oversupply (too much milk).

In addition to oxytocin, breasts produce milk on a demand supply basis. The more your baby drinks, the more milk you produce. The milk also gives your baby exactly what it needs at that time. It’s a super clever system.

Somethingsnappy · 31/08/2020 20:53

In addition to the hormones mentioned above, the delivery of the placenta is the signal your body uses to properly get production going.

I never noticed the size of my breasts increasing during pregnancy....only on about day 3, when the colostrum starting changing to milk. Then they became huge!

Mine never changed and I'm 8 months PP now with a little chunk of a baby that was exclusively breastfed until we started weaning 😊

Mine never ever leak, either. I'm very lucky.
