What to wear in labour

This will be my third baby- first two I wore the same nightie from M n S, wasn’t maternity but was big and roomy and a decent length and had straps so was easy to try and feed after babies had arrived. It got wrecked after baby 2 though, so now I’ve been looking at other options- I bought a maternity nighty online but it’s SO short with my bump! Anyone recommend anywhere to get something, obviously doesn’t need to look amazing just be comfy and do the job! The other thing I’m trying to remember is- after having your shower/bath, do you get changed into night things again or into normal clothes....I guess that may depend on how you’re doing, but if everything is straightforward? I just I cant remember now! Thanks

I got my maternity nighties from boohoo and they're a good length. I ended off giving birth in the long top I'd been wearing with leggings while I went about my business for the first 12 hours of labour. I changed into a clean nightie after my wash.

I ended up in partners large tshirt and pj bottoms, during labour I had hospital blanket on my bottom half and just a bra!

I originally had a baggy t-shirt and leggings on but they gave me a hospital gown after my waters went. After birth I wore pjs in hospital until I was told I could leave and put a maternity dress on for comfort.

I went into hospital in the t-shirt, underwear and harem trousers I was wearing. I got rid of my trousers and undies about 4hrs later when I took them off to be examined for the second time and was 8cm and told they were going to move me from MLU to the delivery suite. I was in a right state then before they gave me the diamorphine so I didn't put my bottoms back on just kept a sheet over my bottom half on the bed. Then when I'd had the diamorphine I was so chill I just didn't care anyway although kept sheets over me during transfer to delivery suite in a wheelchair.

After I got settled on the bed in delivery suite I was ready to nap thanks to the diamorphine so took my t-shirt and bra off and put a PJ vest top on that I'd brought with me. I just kept sheets over my bottom half still and I didn't move off the bed apart from to go to the toilet once and the midwife just averted her gaze so I wasn't bothered.

After my shower I was very very sore (episiotomy) and exhausted so changed into a sleep bra, disposable undies, a very short button down nightie and tiny PJ shorts. It was about midday and I slept for a few hours late afternoon anyway on the other ward and button down nightie was good for breastfeeding. I changed into 'proper' clothes (maternity t shirt, nursing bra, disposable undies and the harem trousers I'd worn to come in) after my shower the next morning and was discharged that lunchtime.

I liked the gap maternity nightie - black and very soft model jersey. I bought it for giving birth but still wear it in bed now 2.5 years later. It’s really lightweight and a good length even with a bump.

I had top half of a maternity tankini in the pool, then one of my partner’s big soft t-shirts for the actual delivery. After I showered I changed into pyjamas. I bought several pairs of cheap elastic pyjama bottoms from the supermarket and some breastfeeding vest tops from H&M and basically lived in those for the first month!
