Reduced movement cause?

Hi everyone..have noticed the past couple of days that baby is moving but definitely not as much as previously

I called triage and went in to be monitored last night. All seemed ok as there was a heartbeat and I felt a handful of movements

I'm still slightly worried though as it doesn't explain the reduced movements and what has caused it. Should I have pushed for a scan?

How many weeks are you?

Generally though, yes - push for a scan, including the oxygen flow through the cord.

Were you hooked up to a ctg? They usually monitor babies for a period of time to decide if everything is ok.

I'm 30 weeks

Yep they monitored the heartbeat for 20 mins or so which they said all looked fine..

I don't know if I'm being paranoid but it just doesn't explain the change in movement

If it’s persistent decreased movements then you need a scan. Same goes for a single episode of decreased movements if you have any risk factors for growth restriction (single episode without risk factors often fine to leave be).
Sometimes babies just change position, change pattern, etc. super common to have an episode of decreased movements where everything is reassuring and baby goes back to normal - often nothing wrong.
Next most common cause is growth restriction and you need a scan for that.
Risk factors - lots - things like previous small babies, any medical problems, high BMI, low PAPP - A.
In summary - if you’re still worried, go back.

@New2020 if you’re still worried and if the movements feel still reduced - go back. A second visit may well trigger a scab anyway where they will check the baby’s size and the cord.
