Hey 😊

So I was diagnosed with SPD in my 1st pregnancy at around 25 weeks, but had been suffering in the weeks leading up to this. I ended up on crutches with a support belt and band by 30 weeks.

I'm now 16 weeks with number 2 and since about 12 weeks have been getting the tell tale signs of sore hips and shooting pains. Today I woke up feeling great, however by jeeeee its slapped me in the face. My whole pelvic area is throbbing, and I've got pins and neddles down the back of both legs. If I sit down my legs throb, and things feel tight. If I stand my pelvis throbs and my hips feel loose then my legs go.

But gutted it's started so early this time round (not diagnosed yet but I'm pretty certain) Having a really low night as was suppose to be at a family party but had to send DP and DC alone. I think DP was pretty annoyed at me not going too which is frustrating.

Can anyone remind me of the hints and tips for pain management etc? Would any fellow suffers like to sit and keep me company while we both feel sorry for ourselves tonight?

Remember not to push yourself.
Always sleep with a pillow between your knees if sleeping on your side.
Scoot up and downstairs on your bum.
Be careful when getting in and out of the car..do it as slowly as possible.

I had terrible pgp first pregnancy and ended up on a wheelchair. With baby number 2 she was quite the acrobat and when she was head down I got the pains but when she was breech I was fine ( she moved on a weekly basis And was born breech).

I still get pains 7 years on if I sleep on my side without a pillow Sad

Sorry to hear you still get pains.

I randomly got achy when near or on my period after my first birth, but it always felt manageable as it was a few days at most and I didn't have the mobility issues.

I haven't done much today aside sit / stand in the garden, and a wee walk with the little one.

I'm currently sat in a warm bath and the sense of comfort is unbelievable, but I fear I'm stuck in the bath until DP and DC arrive home later 😂

Ooh yes another tip was to avoid baths unless someone can help you in and out Grin.

My mobility is fine now too thank goodness, just the odd twinges here and there.

I think the key is to not push yourself and only do as much as you can because hopefully it won't get any worse so early on.
Hope your bath has helped you feel better.

See an osteopath who specialises in pregnancy. 6 months post partum my leg was giving out once/twice a day still. She fixed it.

She's fairly confident she can keep me off crutches 'next time'. 9 weeks tomorrow and I'm starting to get the twinges. Looks like I'll be going to see her sooner rather than later!! I didn't start until 11/12 weeks last time...

Pelvic partnership have a list of private practitioners who are all recommended. They've got lots of tips too.
