anyone else worried about cpvid when it comes to the maternity wards?

I cant bare the thought of being on my own before and after birth. So I'm considering a home birth just to avoid being in hospital on my own!

I have a general fear of hospitals before covid and pregnancy. I've never stayed in hospital over night, the thought of having to stay in hospital and possibly staying over night with no visitors allowed scares and worries me more than the actual birth!

A home birth is not an option for me as I live a 40 minute drive from the nearest hospital. I looked into a private room as I feel like it may help with my anxiety but my hospital charges £130 per night for a private room and theres no way I could afford it!

I was induced with my first, before covid. I hate hospitals too but I found the whole process of being induced relaxing but thats because I knew if I needed help people were there all through my last pregnancy i was worried of going into labour on my own. That again is my fear but also being in there on my own is a massive no no to me... think I'm just gunna have to speak to the midwives when I get one to see what my options are :(

Is there a midwife led unit available near you? They all tend to be private rooms so there's a better chance of not having to be alone.
I m not comfortable with a home birth personally so hoping to go with the midwife unit and DH is allowed to stay with me afterwards at the moment with their current rules.

Glad it's not just me worrying, my first was 6 weeks prem and we had to stay in hospital for 4 days, it was a nightmare and I was quite young and the nurses were not nice at all, currently 28 weeks pregnant and panicking in case this baby comes early and I'm stuck in the hospital completely on my own, I don't think I could handle it!

I had my baby a week into lockdown and it was fine. The only bit my husband wasn't able to come in for was the initial examination to see if I was 5cm dilated. Once that was confirmed he was able to come in. I may have been lucky but as it was quiet, we were just able to stay in the delivery suite for the whole time, though My husband went home to sleep once the baby arrived as there was no point in him being there. He came back for about 9am. I went in at around 7pm on the Monday and left mid afternoon the next day.

Currently here my partner will only allowed to be there when I'm in established labour, and have to leave after untill im discharged. Thankfully im not due till march so im hoping it changes but it doesn't stop me paniking :/

If it eases your mind at all I had a baby 3 weeks ago by elective section. I had to go to an appointment alone 2 days before for bloods, covid swab, anaesthetic assessment etc but then my DP was allowed with me from admission throughout my section and in recovery. He couldn’t stay on the ward but the staff were amazing helping me with whatever I needed as I was in bed for several hours while the spinal wore off. Overnight they were in and out regularly helping with feeding/nappies/getting up to the toilet etc. We were safe for discharge the next day by lunchtime and DP was allowed in to help us get sorted and take us home. It was actually a really positive experience. I had to have a section for medical reasons so hospital was always the only option but I have to say they were fantastic and were full of empathy for women facing the huge challenge alone.
