Can't drink anything

I am 15 weeks pregnant & cannot drink anything at all!
I can eat very small amounts - I don't fancy anything at all, but I will force little bits down, just for the baby.
However, anything I drink comes straight back up. I am sipping water, but it tastes really metallic kind of? The taste is absolutely revolting to me. I have tried cordials, fruit juices, I've tried sucking on ice. It just comes straight back up.
I've had a little luck with Yazoo milkshakes, but not much.
I feel absolutely horrendous and I'm not sure what to do, or why it's just liquids?
I have tried sickness tablets & bands, nothing seems to be helping with the drinking though
I feel really thirsty & depressed :(

Try eating jelly

It's my secret to get fluids into poorly kids. So might work for you 🙂

Lemon san peligrino was my saviour, and ginger beer. I found fizzy drinks less sickly for some reason. If you really can't stomach anything to drink at all I think you should try to speak to your midwife. Maybe try sucking on an ice lolly?

When I was pregnant with my second the only thing I could drink were the drinks you get from like McDonalds and Subway. The sort of drink machine Diet Coke mix stuff. The normal coke you buy in the supermarket was too fizzy for me and made me sick.

Ice cold fizzy drinks like sparkling water, or slightly flat coke may work. I found they needed to be straight from the fridge or they came back up.

Slim chance but thought I’d mention my new pregnancy vitamins made all liquids revolting to me, I stopped them for a week before changing them back and it went away!
But when I felt like this cranberry juice was the only thing I could tolerate

boysnamehelpplease · 23/08/2020 21:43

Try making ice lollies with diluted fruit juice

Cookies47 · 23/08/2020 21:46

I'm going to try these suggestions thank you. I feel so rubbish, I constantly have an awful taste in my mouth & I want to cry :(

I think this might be worth a trip to the doctor. Anti sickness tablets may help.

Superscientist · 23/08/2020 23:00

The only real food aversion I had was water. The closest I came to being able to drink water was sipping boiled water with a bit of honey in.
Fizzy drinks were OK though and I was able to eat a few different fruits so I could get fluids through them.

If you take pregnancy vitamins take them last thing at night, the iron can make you feel even more sick on an empty stomach.

Certainly try different things, pregnancy make me hate tea and I'm 99% tea normally. I took up sparkling orange ( low cal) I hate the idea of the sweeteners but like you I couldn't drink water. You have to drink.

Could try smoothies or milk ? Nesquik ?
