Really struggling, my second migraine in a week, the first having lasted 2 days. Any advice? I'm taking paracetamol. I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Thank you

Annoyingly @UnicornAndSparkles, I was told I couldn’t take anything but paracetamol. I’m currently 12 weeks and the worst episode I had was when it lasted 4 days straight! My only cure was literally rest in a dark room, sleep as much as possible and stay out of the sun. My migraines were horrific when we had that heatwave in London a couple of weeks ago. I would literally barricade myself in my bedroom with my fan on! I’m still getting headaches now and just trying my best to sleep it off. Hope you find a solution! Xx

I suffer with migraines and find the forehead strips a massive help! Good on hot days too! They last 8 hours so I would take paracetamol, pop a forehead strip on and have a nap in a dark room. Sometimes it works others it takes the edge off. I also find having a coffee or tea (caffeinated drink) sometimes helps too!

I get them too. I find the 4head stick can help take the edge off slightly, make sure you're getting lots of sleep (I've been napping in the day), and I've found drinking more water than usual helps too (I usually drink 2L a day so aim for more like 3L). Also my midwife told me I could talk to my GP about prescribing migraine tabs that were safe to use in pregnancy, thankfully mine have eased off so didn't need to, but you could call you GP and just make sure any medication they suggest is safe in pregnancy. I don't know if there is a difference in what medication you take depending on how far along you are, I was over 12 weeks when I spoke to my midwife- but your GP is the best person to ask about this xx

Had a few during my pregnancy

The following really helped - forehead stick on head, ice gel on neck, dark room and sipping full fat coke

I replied to a similar question on a different thread. I've suffered with horrendous migraines over the years and didn't want to rely on medication.

An osteopath sorted me right out! Hand sin treatment to the head/ neck not only soothes an active migraine but also significantly reduced the time between me getting them.

definitely worth looking into/ pursuing

I suffered from migraines between week 9 and 12 on multiple pregnancies. It was hideous! I think knowing your triggers and trying to address them helps.

Mine were hunger ( I was eating every two hours)
Dehydration
Sunlight
Tiredness

They disappeared after 12 weeks only to return at the very end of the pregnancy.
