Hi! As per the NHS guidelines, I'm taking 400 mcg Folic acid and 10 mcg Vitamin D daily. Wondering if anyone took anything else in the early weeks? Thanks in advance. Smile

That’s honestly all you need. Pregnacare etc. are mostly just expensive wee.

Interested from anyone with good evidence on this topic, have been thinking about taking extra because of worrying about terrible diet due to nausea. Literally all I can eat a lot of the time is crisps, crackers...must be missing a lot of vital nutrients needed to grow a baby, never mind for me?!

Nothing else needed but just for general health you can chuck in a multivitamin, no need for anything fancy just the regular supermarket own brand supplements are fine

Definitely get a multivitamin if you don't eat a balanced diet, they won't replace everything but help keep you ticking over.

If you do go for a multivitamin make sure it's a pregnancy one. Normal vitamin tablets will contain vitamin a which you should not take in pregnancy!

A supermarket brand pregnancy tablet will be fine.

I've taken pregnancy plus multivitamins from Boots (own brand) since I found out I was pregnant. They have the same ingredients as the pregnacare ones and are about half the price. They're really not that expensive at all (about £14 for a 3 month supply) and I'd rather be safe than sorry and cover all my bases, especially as I was so sick and eating so little for the first 16 weeks that I definitely wasn't getting all of my nutrients from food!

@RowboatsinDisguise expensive wee 🤣🤣🤣 so true!!!

Bearcub01 · 22/08/2020 21:46

@UncleBunclesHouse just be aware that a lot of these pregnancy vitamins also make some people sick so they might not be beneficial to you.
I was taking folic acid+ vitamin D from boots but at my booking appointment on Thursday the midwife gave me another kind with vitamin c also so I’m going to start on them instead as I always took vitamin c before pregnancy too.
