Midwife unable to reach cervix

I had my 40 week appointment today and was offered a stretch and sweep. My cervix was so high and posterior that the midwife was unable to reach it let alone attempt a stretch and sweep. Has anyone else had this? Did you end up going in to labour naturally or did you get induced?

I had that at 40 weeks but only because I was actually at the appointment where we decided to book me in for induction (IUGR, it turned out)....so not much help but just wanted to say yes my cervix was totally uncooperative at 40 weeks too!

Mine was like that when they tried to induce via catheter at 40+3. Didn’t work obvs but I went in to spontaneous labour later that day and gave birth after 6hrs active. It can change a lot very fast (or not).

Just had my 40 week appointment too the midwife didnt even attempt checking as the baby is totally unengaged! Had the same with my first baby and went into spontaneous labour at 40+4 so I'm not worried x

When I went in to be induced I was examined by a doctor, which was already unpleasant, but then she did something when she was rummaging around and I screamed out in pain. She apologised and said that she’d just moved my cervix round from the side, to make things easier. To this day I can’t believe she did it with no warning!

I had that at 40 weeks. I was induced at 10 days over but it was very quick so I think by then ds was about ready to come.

That’s good to know a few of you went in to spontaneous labour. I’m really wanting a water birth so really hoping to avoid induction
