How much movement is normal?

I have read loads of messages about mothers worrying their babies aren't moving enough but I think I have the opposite problem.. !

I am 24 weeks todays and the lo doesn't stop all day, I have cut down on foods that have additives and do not drink any caffine at all..I only wake up once a night to go to the loo and she jumps a bit when I am going back to sleep.. but seriously throughout the day she does not relent.. Don't get me wrong I love it but should I expect to give birth to the most eneregtic child ever?!!

I didn't have this, but my colleaguehad a baby that didn't stop moving. ever. Just wriggled around all day.. she's just given birth though so bit early to tell.

Another colleague said that hers never stopped moving, but then was a really sleepy baby.

Sorry, I'm not much use, am I!

If it helps I am 25 weeks and mine goes through phases of utter lunacy. Saying that, she'll then go quiet for 24 hours and scares the shit out of me.

Anyhoo, yesterday my midwife explained that the key isn't to compare the movements to anyone else's, it's to compare it to what is normal for your baby up until that point. If it does anything that deviates from the usual pattern get it checked out.

Hope that helps a bit. If you are at all worried then give your midwife a call. I know that's the stock answer but it doesn't half take the worry out of things (and I'm a big fan of doing that!).
