High & fast rising hcg

Heyyy just wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice?? My period was due Wednesday last week, I took a clear blue that day and it said 2-3 weeks which I found a bit strange as my periods are regular so not sure how I can be further on than I think then I took another one tonight and it says 3+, has anyone ever experienced this before and it been a positive outcome. I feel my hcg is rising quite fast? I know clearblues can be faulty sometimes and definitely aren’t 100% reliable but just a bit confused. Should I book an early scan or just wait or maybe contact my GP? My last pregnancy was a miscarriage (my 2nd one) so I’m extra anxious Sad

Congratulations on your pregnancy. This sounds normal - best not to use the clear blue weeks indicators for really anything - IMO they should be banned!! I know how it feels to be anxious about everything post miscarriage but try to relax - and don’t do any more tests!
If you’re feeling that you want extra reassurance you could ask your GP to arrange some blood tests for you (doesn’t seem necessary though at this point), or book an early scan. Make sure you wait until at least 7-8 weeks though unless extra concerns come up.

Is it possible you ovulated earlier than normal this month?

Thank you both for responding Smile.

I totally agree with you, they’ve caused nothing but worry for me in the past (I should know better). I just bought them to be sure I was definitely pregnant. I took about 15-20 tests last time and it was the worst mistake I made, I was constantly worrying. I have a good feeling everything will go okay this time, so fingers crossed my instinct is right! Thank you for the advice.

@RoseGoldEagle
Yes I’m putting it down to maybe ovulating slightly earlier. I know hcg progressing is a good sign anyway, but im a googler and an over thinker & automatically assumed it was maybe a molar pregnancy Sad

I had high hcg in my previous (only!) pregnancy in that I got very strong positives relatively early and was always ahead on the ‘weeks indicator’ on the digital clear blues. Everything was fine and I had (have) a healthy baby BUT I did have hyperemesis gravidarum which can be related to high hormone levels.

@FightMilkTM

Oh that may be why then, I had it with my daughter. Starting to feel it coming on, feeling really sick if I haven’t ate anything at the moment! It didn’t start until 10 weeks with my daughter though.

I think that, unfortunately, hg can get worse with subsequent pregnancies Sad there’s an hg support thread in pregnancy which has loads of great advice so maybe check it out

Clear blue only gives a rough guide and is not that accurate, that’s why it’s not used by healthcare professionals. It’s not a sign that anything is wrong.

I had nausea from the day before my missed period and my hCG was something like 56,000 at 5+5. Everything was fine with my pregnancy.

I've was told by a midwife high levels of hcg can mean a pregnancy outside of the womb as I had to be checked for that in my last pregnancy as they were high BUT I've also heard a lot of women (and I mean alot) say they had very high levels of hcg and ended up being pregnant with twins or triplets!! Congrats on pregnancy 😊 xx

TwinMum89 · 18/08/2020 20:32

I had a very strong positive test on the day of my missed period and it turned out to be twins! Good luck with your pregnancy.
