Hi, we are thinking of doing SPL. Ideally my DH taking 8 weeks and I'll take approx 7 months (and a 1 month of AL at the end)

I just had a quick question as I'm not due to meet HR for another month and I'm not sure if this is a stupid question! On the gov website it says this:

If the mother wants to take the SPL and ShPP
The mother’s partner must:
• have been working for at least 26 weeks (they do not need to be in a row) during the 66 weeks before the week the baby’s due
• have earned at least £390 in total in 13 of the 66 weeks (add up the highest paying weeks, they do not need to be in a row)
The mother must:
• have been employed continuously by the same employer for at least 26 weeks by the end of the 15th week before the due date
• stay with the same employer while they take SPL
• be an ‘employeee’ (not a ‘workerr’)
• earn on average at least £120 a week

Does this mean that my DH needs to be earning £390 per week and not me? The reason I ask is that I'm £10 off the £390 per week threshold which is so annoying. I've read the page so many times but think I'm just not understanding at all now

I'm also assuming the £390 is after tax? With it saying "must earn at least 390"

Sorry if this question has been done the death I tried searching and it wasn't popping up for me

I think it’s £390 in total (so roughly £30 per week for at least 13 weeks in the 66 weeks before the birth of the baby).

It’s a low threshold - basically it’s just intended to ensure that the mother of the baby has been working in some form prior to the baby’s birth.

Also I don’t blame you for finding that page confusing, it’s very hard to follow!

That makes much more sense thank you!
