my heartburn is really starting to get me down.
i have been suffering since about week 16 ( am now 22 weeks)and although it is driving me mad in the day i can live with it with the help of bottles of gaviscon. what i would like some advice on is how to prevent it waking me at night. i have got enough with leg cramps waking me up. i am waking up every night with ( sorry in advance) sick in my mouth. i am sure this is all to do with the heartburn. is any one else suffering with this.

its nice to hear that i am not alone. i made sure that i did not eat 2 hpurs before bed last night and i was still in loads of pain regardless of gaiscon so i cracked and had a zantac. it did work so i was not woken in the night but i think i will speak to my doctor before i take anything other than gaviscon.
feel like i am paying the price for a good night now though cos it has come back with avengence

I suffered real bad with DS1, and he wasnt that hairy!! and am suffering already with DC2, only 7 weeks! i didnt find much that helped, even gaviscon stopped working after a while, but i did find that about 4 pillows at night time, a glass of milk before bed and brushing my teeth at least half hour before lying down made it a bit more bearable at night, also taking stuff out of my diet helped, no more curries, orange juice, acidic stuff or fatty stuff!

Try peppermint cordial, with a little bit of hot water, let it go cool and sip it.
My mum swears by it.

Both of mine had full heads of hair when born, it was a struggle to get around the shops without being stopped all the time! And I suffered bad heartburn, and appalling sickness, slightly helped by homeopathy. However the heartburn was virtually irradicated by a homeopathic treatment called Arsencum alba...definitely worth a try.

Suffered in pregnancy and nothing since the second he came out...
Careful of using too much gaviscon later on - apparently it has lots of salt so can make water retention worse. get pharmacist to make you up some peppermint water, not fabulous but eases it slightly. I was given something fabulous in labour which got rid of it all together but was too out of it to find out what it was!

The only thing that worked for me was propping myself up on three pillows. My baby was breech and I think that made the heartburn worse.

Had terrible heartburn with my last pregnancy. Found that sipping milk - often - really helped.
