@mandy29xx I haven't told my MIL that we are pregnant yet. Waiting until after our first scan next week but already dreading comments like the one above. I know the most difficult part of my pregnancy is going to be my MIL.

Just ignore the comments. No one will love this child more than you and you do not need to be told to look after her. Some people just need to believe that everything good that happens in the world is a result of their actions - for example, telling you to look after the baby will obviously be the sole reason you have a perfect little bundle! Good luck in your final weeks. x

I’m sorry, I don’t quite understand the comment? Is it ‘take good care of that baby’ said to you when you’re pregnant? I’m 39 weeks and loads of people have said that as a parting comment/goodbye - I don’t take it to mean I wouldn’t look after the baby!

I really wouldn’t read into it... surely it’s just the same as saying ‘take care’ when you hang up the phone to someone? I do that all the time, I’m not implying they’d go jump out a window if I didn’t say it Grin

My MIL/FIL told me repeatedly when pregnant to ‘just take care of that baby’ - normally when I was asking if I could do anything/ help. I didn’t read anything into it really but then, although they can be annoying at times, they’re generally supportive and nice people so I’ve no reason to read into what they say. Sounds like maybe your MIL has a bit of history for comments with an edge?

I’m not sure about the ‘till she decides to be heard’ bit. Till who decides? The baby? Or the MIL? That bit makes less sense perhaps
need some context.

Maybe she means just take care of her until she decides to make an appearance and cry meaning to be heard? No clue.
My grandma is full of wonderful comments about being pregnant I said I'm eating what my little boy is eating at the moment meaning we have the same meal rather than me having a nice juicy steak and him something different for ease (my partner is out on harvest every day at the minute) and I'm like I've grown a human before I can do it again. You don't need to remind me to eat my fruit and veg and get the vitamins 🤦🏼‍♀️
