Just drank some out of date robinsons squash round my sisters. Got it from her cupboard wasnt until after drinking it the bottle had lots of gathered thick orange around the bottom.. checked the label and its 9 months out of date and was already open!

Can this give me food poisoning ? Worried now

Thanks

Did it taste normal? If so you should be fine, things are fine for a long time after the use by date.

Hatscats · 08/08/2020 20:29

Surely it’s a best before on squash? Don’t see how it would ever make you sick.

I wouldn’t have even checked the date, I’ve got squash that’s been in the cupboard years 😂

insancerre · 08/08/2020 20:34

I don’t think it will make any difference, the amount of artificial additives in squash will probably mean it will last for ever

EveningNibble · 08/08/2020 20:35

I’m almost 100% sure there’s nothing in there you could get food poisoning from.

EveningNibble · 08/08/2020 20:35

Plus, isn’t it a best before date rather than use by?

GoshHashana · 08/08/2020 21:16

What could possibly happen? Foetal squash syndrome? Come on... there are enough actual things to worry about in life without trivial stuff.

Melissa85 · 08/08/2020 21:19

Thanks everyone for replies Smile

@GoshHashana no if you read it I asked about food poisoning which is very dangerous to get when pregnant .. that was my worry.

It's not going to cause a problem. Best before dates (like the ones on squash) are about the quality of the product not the safety. Use by dates are about safety/food poisoning.

imissthesouth · 08/08/2020 21:23

It's not really something that you would get food poisoning from unless it was contaminated somehow. You'll be fine OPThanks

jomaIone · 08/08/2020 21:25

Even if you did get food poisoning, it's not very dangerous. It's slightly more dangerous to get sick while pregnant as your body is already doing so much but it's not the end of the world. Some bacteria can cause issues but that's from the certain things that the NHS has limited such as blue cheese etc. Out of date squash will at most make you a bit sick but is very very likely to cause no issue at all.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 08/08/2020 21:25

I think you will be absolutely fine.

And I did get food poisioning whilst pregnant and baby and I suffered no ill effects.

Onekidnoclue · 08/08/2020 21:25

Hey OP. I’m sure you’re fine. It’s not food poisoning you need to worry about in pregnancy, it’s listeria which is a specific type of food poisoning and unless something spectacular happened to the squash - like someone put pate in it - I can’t think of how you could get listeria.
