Induction at 38 weeks or can I request a C section?

Hi I've been diagnosed with diabetes and polyhydraminos which is moderate I'm now 35 weeks. The consultant rang me Monday and said I will be induced at 38 weeks if my sugars don't improve but may carry to 40 without intervention.
I am happy to try and and go to 40 weeks naturally as I've had three kids with a natural birth.
They told me the poly can stop the head engaging during labour and I'm so nervous at being induced at 38 weeks all my babies come around the due date and never early so I worry I won't be ready.
I am also scared of. C section but I hate labour I've not ever enjoyed it but don't want three days of stop start and having no one with me aswell.
Can I ask for a c section ?

There’s no harm in asking. They might not grant it but I would ask them now if it’s an option if I were you,

You can ask - I think you’ll probably find they’re a bit resistant and if you’ve had three normal deliveries it seems like aiming for vaginal birth is a better way to go.
You might find it helpful to discuss with them the process of induction - perhaps they could check your cervix for a stretch and sweep at just before 38 weeks, that way you’d know what your cervix was doing as a starting point. you would hopefully find that the induction would only require your waters to be broken and then the drip rather than the three days of getting the cervix ready beforehand!
If you have a lot of fluid and the baby’s head isn’t engaged then they will take more care with breaking your waters - generally by trying to make just a small hole in the membranes and letting fluid out slowly, checking while they do it that the head is coming down well and monitoring baby. You can usually have an epidural done before breaking waters as well. Usually that is straightforward esp when you’ve had three babies before - unless your current baby is absolutely huge in comparison then there’s every chance of things going very normally in labour. Best of luck

You can actually demand a c section.
Just go into the appointment and say that you have decided to go for a c section over an induction.
This is your body. Only you get to decide what happens.

Agree w PP you can definitely stand up for yourself and ask for the plan you want, and be given it - it just didn’t sound from your post that you were set on a CS as such, apologies if I’ve got the wrong idea! Just thought a bit more discussion would help you :)

I had Polyhydramnios and was induced at 38 weeks ( which was fine, very good experience! ) and waters being broken just involved a midwife pushing down from the top of my bump while a consultant broke my waters to help keep baby down and engage the head - they had also prepped me (put a canula in ) in case of cord prolapse where I would have been taken for a crash section.

That being said, I was offered a section instead of an induction had I wanted one.

Ok thanks guys I've got a few weeks to think about it then and decide. I'm just not good with internals I had my last son at home and the one before was born in the hospital lift!
So I'm really lucky in a way that I've never had interventions medically while in labour but I did with my first son and was on a hormone drip as labour wasn't progressing but the contractions were unbearable for me no break in between them at all.
I'm really hoping she may come before her induction date so I don't have to go through either scenario but I don't think I'm that lucky.
My other kids are older so a c section wouldn't be to bad as two are at senior school and my little one in the juniors so independent enough for me to rest if needed after it's so hard to decide as I get panic attacks when being examined I do not know why this is when I've pushed three babies out and my home birth I was only examined once and they asked my permission and I could of declined which made me feel so much better.
Does anyone else hate being examined ? It's like a phobia.
