Talk to me about Baby Bjorn Bouncers ladies

I had a really great bouncer for my last (just some mothercare one) but I lent it to someone and it bit the dust so i'm considering the baby bjorn.

I am having twins so would be getting two, as they are over a hundred pounds and covers can be washed will be going second hand but are they worth trawling eBay for? Or better to get two cheaper new ones in another brand?

Any other recommendations welcome

My boy loved his and hated all other bouncers. So absolutely worth the money for us! Always hard to tell though, babies are so individual. Super easy to get covers on/off so buying second hand sounds like a good plan. The good thing about them is they’re strong, but easily bounce from the movement of a young baby.

BrightWhiteLight · 08/08/2020 08:20

I borrowed my friend's for several months and it was brilliant. Life-saver - I'm not sure how I'd have had a shower or done anything round the house without it (I had a difficult baby who screamed if put down, but was fine in the bouncer for a while).

Good luck!

Branleuse · 08/08/2020 08:21

I had these and imo its the only bouncer worth getting

BrightWhiteLight · 08/08/2020 08:21

PS make sure you get the little bar of spinny wooden toys that sits along the front. Keeps babies entertained for a little while longer!

Catawaul · 08/08/2020 08:22

I got one second hand and sold it on afterwards. They are much better than other bouncers, also because you can fold it and stick it under the sofa, or carry it somewhere - I used to take it to the pool to use in the changing room!

Awkwarddough · 08/08/2020 08:23

What is the difference between getting one of these or a cheaper one like you said you had with your first baby. We had a cheap mothercare one and our baby loved it! If I were you I’d buy cheaper ones to begin with and upgrade if either twin doesn’t like them

ChampooPapi · 08/08/2020 08:42

@Awkwarddough very good point you've made, i am unsure an upgrade may be unaffordable though post babies so may have to stick with my first choices

@Catawaul folding flat you say! That is exactly the sort of thing that with a ton of twin things I need in my life I think!

@OnceUponAPotato it sounds like a lot of babies get on with them, even though these are my 3rd and 4th babies I've never actually used one!

@Catawaul is about 40 pounds a fair second hand price do you think for each?

@BrightWhiteLight great advice on the toy bar, I keep seeing them on ebay with or without and I can't recall actually ever seeing one in the flesh so didn't know what was normal for them. They've completely missed my baby radar, but I think with two I'm going to need two bouncers for certain

@Branleuse right off to eBay then 😊

Yes, think I bought and sold for £50!

YorkshireIndie · 08/08/2020 08:49

My whole NCT group brought one after using mine. I liked the fact that it folds flat and it is really easy to wash the fabric. I like the fact that it has three settings. I brought mine second hand

Branleuse · 08/08/2020 08:53

It is much sturdier. They can be in it for longer as you can take the bar off and its strong enough for them to sit in till theyre two. Its just a better investment. Also when they kick their legs they can bounce themself

Persipan · 08/08/2020 08:54

It's the only bouncer we have so I can't compare it to others, but it's been great. It gets a lot of bounce going on a whisper of movement, and he loves the toy bar and will twiddle with it for a good few minutes at a time. I also park him in it under his IKEA baby gym, which keeps him occupied for a fair while. I really don't know how I would ever get anything done at all if I didn't have it; I love it.

LightUpLetters · 08/08/2020 08:57

The mesh covers dry much faster than the cotton ones

RWK29 · 08/08/2020 09:16

Great thread @ChampooPapi 😊 we’re also torn over the Baby Bjorn 🙈 It just looks so basic compared to others yet everyone seems to absolutely fave about it! Lol.

Can I jump in and ask...What age were everyone’s little ones when they started using it? I know they say suitable from newborn but are they actually? Lots of products seem to say that then in reality they’re not much use until baby has some neck control 😊

ChampooPapi · 08/08/2020 09:35

@RWK29 great question about age range 😊 I didn't even think to ask just assumed newborn and beyond!

I'm sold ladies, thank you for your mumsnet wisdom as usual you have made my mind up and given me all the information and full low down 🦸‍♂️♀️

Looking at my eBay history I must have bought mine when he was 3ish weeks, so I guess it arrived and we started using it when he was getting on for 4 weeks. In the lowest position it was fine even when he was tiny.

Coffeeandcrumpet · 08/08/2020 10:47

Best bouncer ever! Mine were in it pretty much from. Birth, although they were chunky babies. Good luck with your new arrivals

becca3210 · 08/08/2020 10:52

Ours was second hand and our little one loves it don't know how we would manage without it. He was in in since a few weeks old. Now coming up 4 months and bounces himself. The toy bars are great we have two and change between them.

foreverhungry2409 · 08/08/2020 11:01

My older one loved it but my little one would cry when I'd put him in! I'm defos keeping it if there's even another little one but it's just dependant on your babies!

ChampooPapi · 08/08/2020 11:14

@becca3210 I'm bidding on a couple now, they definitely seem to hold some value that's for sure! Most second hand things would t go for over half their original price but I conceed to the mumsnet wisdom, and from reviews online too, spend cheap spend twice and all.

Well in my case it would be spend cheap spend four times 🙄

@foreverhungry2409 yes if they are against them I'll just re eBay them 👍

ChampooPapi · 08/08/2020 11:17

@Persipan yes usually it's a few weeks in before you kind of put them down isn't it, unless it's into their beds. Sigh, another 100 quid dissapears 🙄 will be worth it with two though when I need to shower!

JLR12 · 08/08/2020 12:08

You can get a duplicate on ebay, someone I know has both and said the £30 from ebay is just as good! Worth a try x

ChampooPapi · 08/08/2020 12:34

@JLR12 oh do you mean like the same style but unbranded so to speak? I've put a few bids in but will check them out too, thank you

One of the options is 'Wine' Cotton instead of 'White' Cotton 😆

Sure they are very similar though to baby bjorn, so could be a goer if I don't win the actual one for a semi reasonable price. My max is really fifty for each and some do certainly sell for more then that on there
