I am due 9th Nov with 2ndC and am due to take my test on 19th Oct. I originally hoped to take my test at the end of Aug but because we had so much else going on and find it nearly impossible for me to get any practice in outside of my lessons this time frame was out of the question. Then a few people said it takes about 2 months to get a date so I thought i ought to book a test date pretty soon and the first one was this one in Oct. I really want to pass before the baby comes DS was 2 wks late so I don't feel like the baby will come early but my belly is really growing- I can sit quite comfortably behind the wheel at the mo but have no idea how I'll be in 3 wks. I need to practice a lot more aswell which I hope will be possible over the next couple of w/e.
Has anybody been in or know of anybody in this position before.

DH's cousin did - and passed! Of course it depends how you feel, but if you feel able, and can still fit behind the wheel safely and control the car properly (at 39 weeks I fit behind the wheel of the car but am finding reversing pretty cumbersome) then why not? Are you learning with an instructor? What does he/she think?

Personally, I wouldn't want to do my test three weeks from my due date, just from a stress and general exhaustion point of view, but that doesn't mean to say you should discount the idea!

There was a thread not long ago about someone in exactly the same situation - maybe try a search?

I will be in your situation though not as heavily pregnant and I will be doing a week long intensive course, have good pass rates and hopefully that'll just get it over with!

Good luck.

Hi,

I did mine a few weeks ago (and failed ) and there was a thread on it. I'll try to find the link. Me failing was nothing to do with being pregnant though so I wouldn't worry. I think I was about 36wks when I took the test. There were quite a few other MNers who said they'd passed while preggers so it can be done! Good luck!!

I would be worrying a bit about the effects of an emergency stop.

Here you go... www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=390116#7940852

BTW, the examiner will ask you if you're prepared to do an emergency stop...the correct answer is YES! If you say you're not sure they'll tell you you can't take the test.

NAB3, they didn't actually ask me to do an emergency stop in the end. I think they just have to ask if you'd be prepared to do one in theory.

Thanks for link missbumpy (best wishes for birth or have you had it already!). I can but try- I don't know if I'd be ready at the moment regardless of being pregnant- but I'm hoping if I cram in as much practice as possible before then i might well be! I suppose it might help visualising me being a good driver and having confidence in myself. It's just the pressure is greater when you have the birth deadline to think of, coz i know finding the time or being able to concentrate will be nigh on impossible when baby arrives-arrggh. Don't keep thinking about it- relax!

honeycomble I have just passed at 29wks - believe it or not being pregnant seemed to make me calmer! I have a loooong history of failed tests and abandoned lessons etc - very nervous, lack confidence, panic attacks before lessons, the works!
But this time round being pregnant made me more determined, but also put it into perspective - if I'd failed i would have been sad, but the baby is still the most important thing IYSWIM.
I didn't have to do an emergency stop either, and only practised it once with instructor. She said they would never do it at a speed faster than 30mph - should be safe enough?
Good luck, you'll be fine, if I can pass anyone can!!

Good luck!

Just remeber to try and be calm. I know it seems really difficult! I would always fail on silly little things just due to nerves.

luckily i passed 6th time. And i don't care how many times it took because i got there in the end.

If you fail it's not the end of the world just don't give up! I nearly did, but if i can do it anyone can
