positive stories of cesarean under general aneasthetic during COVID

I've seen the aneasthetist today at 35 weeks and due to previous back surgery I will need to have a general aneasthetic and be put to sleep for a cesarean. She told me that my partner would have to leave once I leave the recovery room, which could be within the hour of baby being born. I am so scared I wont be able to look after baby on my own while I'm recovering from a general as well as the surgery as last time I had a general I was extremely sleepy and unable to think properly. I feel like having to deal with the fact that I have to have a general is bad enough, let alone the added factor that my partner cant be there to help. I know the midwifes/health care assistants are there, but they're not going to cuddle baby and look after him like his dad would. Apparently the minimum we would be in hospital for after a general is 3 days.

I'm really hoping someone can help me to feel more positive about this.

Hello,
I'm 36 weeks and will be having a general too. Obv haven't done this before during a pandemic but for my 2 previous deliveries with GA I stayed in recovery until I was properly awake and feeling okay - maybe 3 hours? I'm aware that my husband will have to leave when I move to postnatal so hoping that is similar this time. I'm worrying too, also about the prospect of him not being allowed to wait with me before theatre as I know with spinal anaesthesia sections partners don't come in until they're about to start surgery and they don't let partners in at all in our scenario.
Sorry, more empathy than help! Hope it all goes well for you!

Thank you for your reply. I didn't think about the waiting beforehand! Thats good to hear it was a few hours though in recovery room. Hopefully they wont rush us through. Hope it all goes smoothly for you.
