So I'm 42 weeks and my cervix is still too high for even a sweep. They want to induce me but I really don't want that. for some people do their cervix just stay this way. I can't work out what's going on

Commenting mainly to bump for you. Sounds like your body hasn’t started getting ready for labour yet - not uncommon! Cervix can change over many weeks, or over the space of a few hours. It’s common to have a bit of difficulty “reaching” the cervix - that’s not to say that you won’t labour soon or that an induction would be difficult for you necessarily.
Some things that can make the cervix more difficukt to reach would be if you have a particularly high BMI, or if baby’s head is not engaged. Your midwife should be aware of both those things and they’re both reasons for an obstetrician review and discussion at this stage (esp if it’s your first baby).
You haven’t specifically asked opinions about induction or not, I assume the docs have talked you through everything - just wanted to say that there are a few good recent threads on the process of induction and success of it, and that it won’t increase your risk of CS at this stage (rather, waiting longer actually increases risk of CS/intervention). You’ve probably found midwives (and/or docs) slightly uncomfortable with continuing past about 42 weeks so hopefully you have good information for making your decision. Best of luck.

I was told my cervix was high while in labour.

Have you and the baby been offered daily monitoring?
What are your concerns regarding induction?
