Where to put sleepyhead when downstairs?

As the title suggests.... I have seen a travel cot as a recommendation; I know lots put them on the sofa, but we have a dog and not 100% sure I want to leave baby on the sofa with dog having easy access if that makes sense.

Also feel travel cot is a more sturdy option over a moses basket etc

Thanks

Travel cot is good but they're big. And if you haven't bought a sleepy head yet it's actually safer for them to just sleep in the travel cot.

Health visitor really told me off about a sleepy head and them actually sleeping in it.

Ours was on the sofa but had the arch like a play gym.

@BabyG123 thank you.

Yes, there are so many mixed messages about them, I know they say they shouldn' t be sleeping on them, but so many use them and rave about them?!

If you haven’t had your baby yet and haven’t bought it yet I’d really recommend you hold off.
My son was a great sleeper in Moses basket, pram, and crib.
It isn’t an essential buy, if you do feel you need one you can pick one up that day or order next day delivery.
Lullaby Trust do not recommend them. Although like you, I’ve had friends rave about them.
If my baby never slept I’d consider trying one. But I’ll only know that once they’re here x

I’m one of the people who couldn’t have survived the early days without a sleepyhead. Our little one HATED being put down and we bought one about the day 10 mark and it was game changing. But, it’s not necessarily a vital item. It all depends on your baby. We did just kept ours on the sofa when we were downstairs but a travel cot could be a good option.

I'm due in 4 weeks and we have a small rescue dog - we wanted something to make sure baby was out of her reach in case she was over-interested (of course we would never leave them together unattended). I saw this chair on another Mumsnet thread so we have bought this to have a safe space for the baby to chill when awake - it reclines flat so could also snooze in it...

We have a moses basket for downstairs too, and a travel cot/playpen (covering all bases 😂)

Thanks all

@BeMorePacific I think you're right, I may hold off..it isnt a cheap buy and not something I really want to leave on the sofa, so may be pointless if I wnd up getting a moses basket or travel cot.

@mrs87 how old is yours? Ours is only a puppy 21 weeks, and I'm 20 weeks pregnant, so am very anxious about how it will be...I have been recommended that chair and will be ordering I thinkml. I've also seen a moses basket which is more like a travel cot...not the traditional wooden stand, so think I will get that.

Xxx

We've got a sleepyhead and plan to use it downstairs on the sofa or floor for the baby to lay in (not sleep). I have a hand me down travel cot so will see how we go and use that for naps if it becomes a pain going upstairs for sleeps

@ceebee21 Ours is older, about 7 or 8 years old but we rescued her when she was already 5 or so. She's a very chilled and laid back dog in general but we've had to do a lot of work with getting her used to children as she was frightened of them when she first came to us! She's a million times better now and luckily isn't a bouncy dog, but just want to make everything as easy for everyone as possible just in case! Has your puppy met any other babies/small children yet? Might be worth introducing him to some during your pregnancy! Also the Dogs Trust do sound recordings of crying/gurgling babies to play to them to get them used to the noises which we've been using too:

I realise I've gone a bit off-topic as this was meant to be about the Sleepyhead so apologies!
