Nausea

Hi guys,

I'm currently 6+1 and have been feeling more and more nausea as the days go on, I got a very strong line 13DPO so imagine my HCG levels are quite high

Drinking water is making me feel sick so I haven't been drinking much and given myself an awful headache

Also got zero appetite now

Can anyone suggest anything to help or some drinks that you were able to stomach?

The only thing I can stomach at the moment is Tesco cream of chicken soup! It's on offer at the moment and I've just bought 12 tins of the stuff. There's something about it.. Grin

@bibs124 everyone told me to try ginger biscuits but I cannot stand them in general
I tried , & they made me worse
So I tried either plain digestives or a rich tea biscuit
Both worked quite well for me

Boiled sweets. Lemonade.

bobloblawlawblog · 04/08/2020 09:41

Lemonade definitely!

bobloblawlawblog · 04/08/2020 09:41

Sliced green apple is good too

TinnedPearsForPudding · 04/08/2020 13:08

I know it's a cliche but ginger biscuits really helped me (and I don't like ginger)

MrsH497 · 04/08/2020 13:11

Sip (I mean tiny sips) water, lemonade, tonic water (midwife told me it was perfectly safe and would help)
If it's so awful you can't eat or drink please speak to your gp and get some anti sickness tablets. My hypermesis started with extreme nausea.

Ginger isn't for everyone and i found it made everything worse

RegalRags · 04/08/2020 13:22

Unfortunately it's one of those things where you need to find what works for you. I found ice lollies and dry crackers worked for me but, that doesn't mean it'll work for you.
Please make sure you're drinking enough as that'll definitely make you feel worse!
If you feel like the nausea is unmanageable see your GP or midwife and get some anti-sickness tablets.
It is awful and it feels like it'll last forever but you will feel better soon!

bibs124 · 04/08/2020 15:57

Thank you everyone for your replies, I'm actually feeling a lot better today and have been able to eat a normal amount. It really seems to depend on the day but yesterday was horrendous and spent most the evening in tears as I felt so horrendous (the hormones probably don't help the tears).

Had a lot of people say lemonade but I just find them too artificial - unless anyone has found a nice one?

Think I'll also get some boiled sweets and might try the ginger biscuits but also not a massive fan of ginger!

I've had nausea since about 4 weeks so I'm hoping if anything it'll die down a bit earlier than second trimester but perhaps that's wishful thinking Grin

@bibs124 I was told by a midwife flat lemonade specifically - ie you can pour into glass, add a tea spoon of sugar and it makes it go flat. This did actually help me.

Ginger of anything - nope
Arrowroot biscuits - nope

Some barely buttered toast - just about, one nibble at a time when it was really bad, but it was usually carb based that helped settle initially

Sucking mints like polo's I found helped take the edge off

Bobbiepin · 04/08/2020 16:12

Hunger makes nausea worse so anything you can eat will help. I lived off cereal and pasta for a while. You have to find what works for you. If lemonade is too sweet/artificial, try lemon slices in water.

stellaaaaaa · 04/08/2020 16:16

Ice cold lime and soda is working for me, not as sickly as lemonade I've found. Hope things pick up a bit for you soon, it's rotten isn't it?

bobloblawlawblog · 04/08/2020 16:34

Lemonade wise I like the R Whites one. Very 1990s pub mind!

JemNo66 · 04/08/2020 18:35

No words of wisdom here really, but just wanted to say I'm in the same boat. 7+2 and feeling nauseous pretty much 24/7, sometimes mild-ish and sometimes overwhelming. What works for me changes on a daily basis - today it's lucozade, grapes and calyppos (nothing like a nice balanced diet!) have been wearing sea bands but they don't seem to help. This is my second pregnancy and I don't remember feeling quite this sick, although might just be rose-tinted glasses! Glad you're feeling better today though 😊

EntropyReversed · 04/08/2020 20:42

The only thing that really worked for me was going into a shop and looking at different foods/drinks, imagine myself consuming them, and anything that appealed, I bought. My shopping baskets are generally very odd 😂 but it works!

howmanyroads · 04/08/2020 21:18

Fever Tree do a Lemonade without artificial sweeteners if that's what you mean

Sexnotgender · 04/08/2020 21:41

Fevertree ginger beer and digestives.

bobloblawlawblog · 04/08/2020 22:12

That fever tree lemonade is amazing actually, I forgot about that. Definitely going on shopping list.
