Scan printout at Harris Birthright centre

Hi everyone
I had my last baby as part of Kings college hospital and had all my scans at the Harris Birthright centre in Denmark Hill. We weren't offered printouts and I never thought to ask - they just let us take photos of the scan picture off the screen at the end.

I was wondering if anyone on here has had their scans at Harris Birthright before and if they asked about getting scan printouts? I know some friends who requested the scans and had to pay for them, which I'd gladly do, but don't want to ask and look like a tit.

I had my scans there in 2018 and they said they didn't do print outs. They would let you take a picture of the screen.

Don't be afraid to ask. If you don't ask you don't get. If they don't let partners into appointments due to covid they might give you a keepsake to share instead. Hopefully partners can attend soon but I doubt it. I'm gonna be having scans there too. September is my dating scan...

Same @ChatWithMe ! 21st September for me, when's yours?

7th or 8th I think. So I'm 2 weeks ahead of you. I really hope this little one is ok. Seeing a baby at the dating scan is amazing!! I've been here once before and it's magical when the baby appears on the screen for the first time. Crazy when you think about how it all happens from the instructions in one tiny cell!!

Same as me @ChatWithMe ! This is baby #2 for us and we got an early scan with our first baby as we were just too impatient to wait for 12 weeks! The best £49 we ever spent, I'll never tire of seeing that little bean bouncing around the screen. The dating scan is monumental as it's the first time I really truly felt pregnant. I had hardly any symptoms with my first (looks like 2nd is going the same way) so seeing it at 12 weeks looking like a proper little baby is magical.
How are you feeling?? You must be around 7/8 weeks now?

I've had all my scans at Kings (am 39+1) and once they'd finished their checks they brought some of the best pics up on screen so I could take pictures of the screen which came out quite well (no print outs offered but I didn't ask).
I didn't take any pictures at 36 weeks as that scan is quite detailed and close up looking at particular body parts / organs so not like the full baby shot you get at 12 & 20 weeks (though even at 20 weeks it wasn't as obvious as at 12 weeks)

I'm feeling crappy tbh mrsmummy1111. I was lucky like you with no nausea first pregnancy but this pregnancy is causing me awful all day nausea, lethargy and some head aches. Yes I'm 8+4. My last pregnancy ever I'm hoping! :-) Yes it's great to have that early scan. I'm pregnant through IVF so I got to see the heartbeat at 7 weeks.

Goatsdorhone I had lots of scans there due to my low BMI. At my 37 week scan they found my baby wasn't growing enough and sent me for induction. I'm so thankful for those extra scans and Harris birthright is such a great place for scans. Good luck with your delivery!

Goatsdorhone · 03/08/2020 15:37

Thanks @ChatWithMe - I've been really impressed with Kings so far. Just on the countdown now!!

mrsmummy1111 · 03/08/2020 18:59

Thanks @Goatsdorhone - similar story to DC1 for me then. Guess there's no harm in asking, otherwise photos of the screen will have to do!

Congrats on your pregnancy - how much longer do you have?

@ChatWithMe Oh wow, that's amazing congratulations. If you don't mind me asking, did you have IVF with your first child as well? Sorry you've been feeling ropey, fingers crossed by the 12 week mark it will start to ease off. I've always suffered with headaches and migraines as well, and have had a few since we found out. The most difficult part is not being able to take any tablets, paracetamol doesn't touch the sides for me, and that 4head stuff is a load of nonsense!

Yes I'm afraid I've only ever been pregnant via IVF. If it was the 60s I would have not been able to have biological children. Thank goodness for modern medicine!

You don't get print outs at King's anymore. I'm 36 weeks and haven't had any pictures other than taking them on my phone.
