Spa break during pregnancy

Hello!
Hope someone can help. I'm 6 weeks pregnant and DH and I are looking to book a week away for when I'm in the second trimester so it will be fairly cold in the UK then. Can't fly due to COVID so has to be UK break but we are really keen to have a nice break just the two of us before becoming parents. Thought of staying in a cottage somewhere like Cornwall or Cotswolds but we're not keen on self catering as part of the holiday experience for me is to relax and not cook. So we'd prefer a nice hotel. A spa hotel would have been lovely but even if COVID situation improves and hygiene ok, I believe there aren't many spa treatments that you can opt for while pregnant? No facials, body scrubs or wraps? Is this correct? I'm aware of not being able to use jacuzzi, sauna etc so was just wondering about treatments specifically. X

Contact whichever you choose before booking. I was very disappointed to learn on Friday that Lush Spa won't see pregnant clients at present 😭

I'm 30 + 5 and off for an overnight break tomorrow at a spa hotel. Look for somewhere that has a specific mum to be package, it will be designed without any of the risky chemicals / essential oils for mtb and therapist will be trained in how to help maneuver and make you comfy while you're being pampered.

I'm having a 90 minute treatment which will include massage and facial, but they will focus on feet and legs, then have me sitting up in a semi reclined position to do shoulder and head massage and facial.

The only thing that can't be made suitable for pregnancy are the hot tubs, saunas etc. Anything that's going to heat you up. The hotel we're going to has a whole thermal village with different hot tubs and saunas, which unfortunately I can't avail of, but they also have three pools and water bed loungers that I can mosey between and laze about on while DH does the saunas and steam rooms without me.

You can definitely have a blissful spa break while pregnant!

DH and I did two spa weekends in my second trimester and both were amazing. I found pregnancy quite hard but I completely relaxed. We contacted them before to check they had therapists trained in pregnancy massage. Instead of lying on my front, I lay on my side and they had extra cushions to support me. Both massages were absolute bliss and whet I needed.

You are right to avoid the sauna and jacuzzi. I did sit on the side of the jacuzzi with just my feet in so I could chat to DH. To be honest I just loved lying by the pool with a book and drifting off to sleep when I needed it.

I say go for it, it’ll be a while before you get the opportunity again!

Thank you all, I'll search specifically for spas with pregnancy/mum to be treatments and will ring ahead to check rules etc before booking anything. You are right, I will have no time to set foot in a spa from next year! x

We're going for a spa weekend in November, I'll be in my third trimester. I'm already so looking forward to it. They offer a maternity package which I'll definitely be going for. Like a pp said, I think lying poolside with a book will be total bliss

I went in a spa break when 7 months pregnant. They had special treatments for pregnancy. I had a lovely massage where I lay in a recliner chair and she focussed on arms, legs, head and neck, with a bit of a facial thrown in.

We went to Budock Veane in Cornwall when I was pg. Had a few treatments. Bliss.
