Hi all

I just wondered if anyone has bought a baby carrier? I'm torn between the Baby Bjorn Mini and the Baby Bjorn One Air!

Thanks

I would advise against the baby Bjorn mini. I had one and all the weight of the baby was on my shoulders and it was uncomfortable. Also, you can’t tighten the carrier around the baby, so I didn’t think it was supportive for the baby either. There are online sling libraries you could try. What someone else loves, you might hate and vice versa.

Baby Bjorn One looks hip healthy so I’d go for that of the two of them. It’s not a brand I’d generally go for though and the One is actually more expensive than a new Ergo, Tula, Integra etc.

Honestly neither, but if you are set on a baby bjorn then the One is at least better for baby’s hips. It’s very expensive though.

Have a look at Tula, Manduca, Integra, and Ergo. It’s A Sling Thing do postal hire if you can’t get to a sling library.

Yeah I've seen the ergo too. Definitely up for hearing anyone's recommendations as I'm a FTM. Thank you!

I've used Tula's for both my DC - both Baby and Toddler sizes. Found they are great for baby and person carrying, as the weight is better distributed, not just on shoulders.
If you can find a Sling Library locally to you, who is happy to do loans at the moment, try a few out as different ones suit different people/body shapes etc.

Agree with @teacuptale, it doesn’t sit where it should on your back for the Bjorn mini!

F1rstt1imer · 31/07/2020 16:36

Depends what you are going to be using it for....I loved ergo 360 with my first for long walks in the woods/hills etc and can’t wait to use it again for my second. Found that baby was always kept very warm when we were on holiday in highlands in March x

ablisha · 31/07/2020 16:37

Thank you all.

@F1rstt1imer we would be using it for long walks really. We have a spaniel who we take out daily and for long walks at the weekend.

I have also been told by friends however they have used theirs in the house if the baby won't settle?

Wouldnt touch any Baby Bjorn with a barge pole. I know the newer models aren't as bad for hip positioning as they used to be but I've also never seen a baby in a Bjorn that was being carried high enough.

I've had a Beco Gemini for over 4 years and it's been brilliant.

paisleydot · 31/07/2020 18:51

I wouldn't use any Bjorn's either - not great for hips, uncomfortable for the person carrying and fiddly. We had a Tula and a Manduca (both bought second hand at a great price, easy to wash), highly recommend!

Crabbo · 31/07/2020 18:51

I wouldn’t get a baby bjorn at all - have a look for your local sling library and they will sort you out with something that works for you.

PrayingandHoping · 31/07/2020 19:03

I have a baby bjorn one. It is hip healthy and is possible to position baby high enough and correctly

I have v dodgy shoulders and a collar bone that easily dislocates and it was by far the most comfortable and supportive. I'm yet to have shoulder pain or issues

PrayingandHoping · 31/07/2020 19:04

It's a doddle to take on and off too....

I think the old versions had a bad rep but the new models must be v different because it's nothing like people who are negative about them say

BiBabbles · 31/07/2020 19:11

I used my mei tais for hours (with shoulder arthritis).

The Babyhawk carrier and similar were great because my spouse and I - who are two very different sizes - could easily change over without needing to adjust buckles or anything.

teacuptale · 31/07/2020 19:34

I ended up with a Beco Gemini Cool and I love it.
If you find that the shoulder straps on Ergos and Tulas are too padded for you, try the Beco.
