I'm almost 3 weeks post partum and weigh less now than I did at the very beginning of pregnancy! Didn't think it was possible, I thought I'd piled on weight. Anyone else have this?

I did as I lost 4 stone in first pregnancy and another stone in my second.

Hell no!!!

Yes I was 9lbs lighter straight after my last pregnancy which surprised me but I also had morning sickness more or less all the way through so that was probably why. I look quite slim in my pregnancy photos with a really neat bump which is total contrast to my first pregnancy where I didn’t have sickness and I absolutely piled on weight and was huge everywhere!

I was 2lbs lighter the day before I gave birth than I was at the start of my first pregnancy!
I was probably at my biggest at that point and then had horrific sickness most of the way through and when it went it was like my appetite was gone.

I continued losing weight after my son was born due to breastfeeding and not really having time to eat/sit and was nearly 3 stone lighter at the start of this pregnancy than I was at the start of the 1st one. I have now started gaining a bit this time though as I think I’ve just got less about me to lose.
Most of my friends have gained close to 4stone in pregnancy and I can’t actually work out how they manage it as I am struggling so much to eat!

I did with my second as i was so sick throughout and could hardly eat ...

The hyperemesis wasn't the best diet ever, but being sick several times a day from 14 weeks to the end did work. I lost a stone and a half once DD1 exited (4 weeks early and though only slightly prem it was touch and go for a couple of days - I'm sure by body just kicked her out so I could eat)

It took a few weeks post partum, but I'm lighter by a few kg than I was pre-pregnancy. Starting to creep back on now though

MojoJojo71 · 30/07/2020 23:43

With my first I gained four stone. I didn’t want to do that again so I was much more careful with my second and weighed the same at term than I did at the beginning so once I’d given birth I weighed about a stone less than at the start

I was. Like many on this thread, I’d hyperemisis. Lost 1.5 stone by 24 weeks, was back to just over prepregnancy weight at birth, and >4kg lighter a week after my LO was born. I could wear my regular jeans within a week. BUT I was also totally out of shape, wobbly where I had previously been solid etc. AND whereas the other new mums I knew continued to lose weight, I plateaued and began to put it back on (despite breastfeeding and walking miles/rejoining previous active hobbies). My LO is 7 months - and only now am I beginning to get my ‘shape’ back and feel more like me. So the scales are not everything!

With PCOS I struggle to lose weight and keep it off (and gain it back at speed of light if not careful). But I guess it just completely goes away while pregnant so normal diet etc and the weight just fell off. With DS I weighed the same post birth as I had before pregnancy. With DD I weighed less (had GD with that one so no diet but severely restricted carbs and sugar). Sadly, it piled on so fast afterwards it was actually quite scary. I think I gained 5kg in 2 weeks right near the beginning.

Extracurricularfatigue · 31/07/2020 22:55

Like @BlingLoving I have only successfully lost weight while pregnant, and piled it back on straight afterwards. Nausea rather than sickness in the first trimester but otherwise eaten fairly normally in two pregnancies and a GD diet in my third, and the weight dropped off every time. I don’t have a PCOS diagnosis but I do have some symptoms of a hormone imbalance.

I was about 1kg lighter just before I gave birth in comparison to when I conceived my first pregnancy! I was much more active at the time, and also developed gestation diabetes so that kept me in check! A few days after my DD was born, I was half a stone lighter!

However, I'm am currently 13 weeks pregnant with number 2. I started off a few kgs heavier this time (thanks lockdown) and less active (again thanks lockdown). And I have definitely gained more weight already! I will most likely get GD again so that will hopefully balance things out for me again!
