Hi guys, I'm 7 weeks pregnant and feel absolutely rubbish!!!

Im messaging on here to ask if anyone has any tips or tricks to stopping it. I get it more in the mornings and usually sick as soon as I wake up, it seems to ease a little by mid day. I can only think this is going to get worse over the next few weeks and it is already affecting my job and daily activities as I'm already SO exhausted and sluggish!

Is it true that ginger helps? If so will ginger biscuits do the trick as I can't stand ginger in any other form.

People do say ginger biscuits work. My mum lived off them when she was pregnant with us. But I can't stand ginger in any way. I didn't cope to well with the sickness either. But mine was always late in the day so I was able to eat small bites during the day and just had to skip dinner and go to bed after work.
I found keeping tiny crackers beside me at all times. You know the tiny salted shaped ones?

Also flat coke. I know it prob wasn't the best thing but I only stopped on it on days I couldn't eat.

Also ate a lot of fruit in place of meals. Again prob not the best but that's all I could face. Melon grapes and grapefruits. 🙈

I hope it eases for you. Mine stopped being really bad around 13 weeks. But I have to say my appetite hasn't really come back. X

I had HG with both my pregnancies so I feel like a morning/ all day/ middle of the night sickness veteran.
Some things I tried...,.

Try sleeping in acupressure bands if it’s worse in the morning.

Have some supper even if it only serves to give you something to bring up in the morning. I found dry heaving worse than the actual vomiting.

Have something to eat at the side of your bed, rich tea biscuits, arrowroot biscuits and cream crackers were my go to.

Drink full sugar tonic water- it’s less acid than ginger ale or ginger beer. If you like ginger ale go for Schweppes.

Clean your teeth from bed after a cracker/ biscuit THEN get up SLOWLY.

Reflexology.

If it carries on and you can’t keep anything down let your MW know.

Congratulations x

I suffered with all day morning sickness from 7 weeks until about 20 weeks. I'm also not a big fan of ginger so kept either a packet of rich tea or digestive biscuits next to the bed and would eat 1 or 2 before getting up in the mornings. I also wore the travel sickness bands for most of the day which seemed to help. Unfortunately, some days nothing seemed to work.
I hope you find something that works for you.

I found sucking crystallised ginger helped, especially driving into work.
Sucking small ice cubes which obviously helped with the dehydration from sickness.
Small bites of rich tea biscuits through the day.
Grazing rather than big meals.
Keep sipping water as dehydration made me feel worse.
Congratulations on your pregnancy Flowers

Ginger did nothing for me. The thought of it now makes me want to throw up. I would recommend trying Sea Bands. I got mine from Boots and put them on first thing in the morning. Also if you're taking multivitamins then go for the Seven Seas over Pregnacare as Pregnacare made me feel worse...but of course everyone is different so see what works for you!

Thanks for all your replies ladies. Its so bad today i managed 43 minutes at work before they sent me home! Ive already been sick 3 times and feel so dehydrated, but every time I drink I feel like I need to throw up again. Hoping a hospital visit wont be needed 🙁. I will try some of your suggestions tomorrow and see how I go

Go see your GP - there is medication that can reduce it & hopefully enable you to keep the basics down (water etc) Please dont struggle on :) I suffered HG both pregnancy and with my first tried to struggle on and ended up spending a lot of time in hospital on drips! 2nd time as sick but managed better with medication!

Nothing else worked! All the ginger biscuits in the world made no difference, sea bands nope.

I found eating small things often. I lived on things like flapjacks and dried things but just small nibbles :( To constantly keep something in my stomach.

And big hugs Flowers

So sorry to hear you're having such a rubbish time.
I'm just (hopefully) coming out of HG for the second time.
Have a look at pregnancy sickness support website.
Get some meds from GP. (Cyclizine takes a while to build up) and Omeprazole.
Try to work out when you're better and get as much in then.
Plain carbs are your friend. Forget anything with flavour.
Try to eat a little bit every two hours - there's a window where you'll feel the sickness coming and if you eat it will subside but if you miss it by even a few minutes you'll be sick.

Plain pasta with salt and pepper
Ritz crackers
Ice lollies
Tinned fruit
Noodles
Potato waffles
Cereal
Sometimes yoghurt and ice cream - bit hit and miss.

Sending lots of hugs and have a look at the HG board for more support. X

Oh dear @Phie04 I’d give your MW a ring and see if she can help you with anything. I’m not sure if you can take rehydration sachet or not. I know I had them but that was after talking to the MW.

Try a spoonful of honey or jam to boost your blood sugar.

Phie04 · 29/07/2020 19:38

Thanks ladies. Today has been just awful. Been in bed feeling like I drank a litre of vodka last night 🤢. Deffo going to call the doctors tomorrow as I can't live like this!

Just to let you all know I got my blood back today. Low ferritin levels confirm I have low iron so hopefully thats the main cause of me feeing rubbish!

Ice lollies, a walk or some fizzy sweets seemed to take to nausea away. I bought some ice lolly moulds and filled them with water too so I wasn’t eating too much sugary stuff. I second a biscuit at the side of the bed too, I kept fainting as soon as I got out of bed and that seemed to stop that.

No advice but just wanted to say you're not alone ❤️ I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and feeling awful!
