Nosebleed

37+5 today and just got woken up by a massive nosebleed (well, it felt massive to me at least).
Has anyone else had this in late pregnancy? Was it just a random one off?

Sorry I don't have much knowledge on nosebleeds in late pregnancy. But how massive? How long do you think it lasted for?

I had a nose bleed every morning from about 31 weeks! Apparently to do with blood vessel being more open or something??! If you’ve lost lots and lost and it keeps happening as your midwife. Mine used to bleed mildly for about an hour. Annoying getting dressed!

Thank you both for replying.

@MiniEggs234 it's so hard to say but it was all over my pillow and looked like a bloodbath lol. It stopped after about half an hour.

@Whatelsecouldibecalled that's reassuring that you had this too and it was OK. I've read lots on Google saying the same, I think it just shocked me as I'm quite late on and haven't had it before.

I've had frequent nosebleeds through semester 2 & 3. They usually stop fairly easily once I put pressure on consistently.

I've had nosebleeds and sinus issues since the first trimester, spoke to my MW and sadly its just a pregnancy symptom

Thanks for putting my mind at rest everyone.

I think my body is determined to get every possible pregnancy symptom going before I give birth!

After some research, nosebleeds do seem very common in pregnancy. But half an hour with quite a lot of blood isn't great.

The nhs says to go to a&e if a nosebleed lasts more than 10 to 15 and the bleeding seems excessive (also if you have some other symptoms). Here's a link if anyone wants more info: www.nhs.uk/conditions/nosebleed/

You obviously seem fine this morning, so no need to get it checked now. But it's probably a good idea to mention it to your gp or midwife.

I've had a lot of nosebleeds throughout pregnancy too @sel2223 (and never had them before). A nosebleed was the pregnancy symptom that made me do a test in the very first place!! Crazy! X

Pregnancy is the gift that keeps on giving isn't it. Thanks ladies.

I've had high blood pressure and protein in urine so in for monitoring today anyway and the nurse said the same. It's a normal pregnancy symptom but can also be linked to high BP (as it happens, BP is up again today so waiting on blood results to come back)
