Hey everyone! I need some advice!

So I am coming up 5 weeks pregnant :) it's our first.

In October my partner and I were planning on going to Dubai for a holiday and to celebrate my 30th. We haven't booked it yet.

I will be 4 months pregnant when we go.

So far all I have felt is extreme tiredness and nausea but worries the sickness creeps up on me. I don't want to be on holiday feeling like that or on a long flight.

Do you think I'll be okay by then? I'm so unsure whether to book it or not. Any advice would be much appreciated. Maybe I'm just looking into it too much x

We are in the midst of a global pandemic - why on Earth would you risk going overseas and risk getting sick or stranded there?

Have you even checked if travel insurance will cover you either for pregnancy or/and Covid-19?

Tbh I would rather go on a luxury hotel break in the UK eg. In the Lake District (gorgeous in the Autumn with the leaves changing colour) the Cotswolds or instead of an hotel maybe a cosy lodge or cottage with a log fire and find some lovely places to go for lunch or dinner.

I had quite a few trips away in my first and second trimester (pre-lockdown) and was absolutely fine.

My concern now would be in relation to insurance cover for covid, especially somewhere like Dubai. Wasn't there a case in the media where a woman gave birth unexpectedly and they're basically holding the baby hostage until they pay hundreds of thousands of pounds! Not the same situation, but I'd want to make sure I was well covered.

All being well medically and with insurance and I would definitely go!

I would have gone if Covid wasn’t an issue but with it no way would I go.

Some people come across extremely rude in their responses.

But to the other two Thankyou 🙂 yeah I definitely need to look into it all. Thanks ♥️

I don't think anyone has been rude at all. They are stating the truth that we are in a pandemic and pregnant women are considered high risk so it's just odd that one would want to go on holiday considering the circumstances.

Personally no, I wouldn't go because of the risk.

I don’t think anyone has been rude to you @Annie1211. It is a fact that we remain in the midst of a global pandemic, travel insurance could well be hard to come by if you’re pregnant given the global challenges, and it would be reckless to travel without it.

I wouldn’t go, partly because of the global situation but also because I’ve found anything above 22/23c is just too much for me now. Ordinarily I love the heat, and travelled regularly pre pregnancy to Dubai for work, but there is no way I would do it now!

People go on baby moons a lot in the second trimester as you are a lot less tired in the second trimester. We had a cruise booked for this week, and we would be going if it wasn’t for the covid situation. I’m now too scared to go abroad this year. We were lucky that we could claim back our deposit as the company we are going with has a cruise with confidence policy.

I’d first of all check before you decide what:
A) the company you are going with covers you with in terms of cancellation.
B) check of insurance will cover you

Could you maybe go in the UK this year and book something in future years?

I'm 4 weeks pregnant with second baby and due to go to Greece at the end of September... you can catch Corona anywhere, so make the most of a relaxing holiday, don't listen to rude people xx

TheFoz · 27/07/2020 14:49

With Covid, not a chance. I would not take that risk.

Birdy1991 · 27/07/2020 14:51

Personally I wouldn’t really risk going abroad until next year pregnant or not, it’s just not worth it as we don’t know what might happen with covid and resurgence, just look at Spain at the moment.

MsSquiz · 27/07/2020 14:58

I went to Portugal at 17 weeks pregnant, and Crete at 27 weeks and was absolutely fine on both trips (even if I did spend the week in Crete lying in the pool or lying in bed!)

Would I go anywhere abroad during COVID-19 while pregnant - no chance. It's a risk I wouldn't want to take (2nd wave, unknown risks to unborn children, etc)

I would definitely look into a staycation somewhere beautiful instead
