Trigger warnings guys because I need to be graphic about what I’m experiencing. (Sorry)
On Friday I was admitted to hospital at 4+4 with suspected ectopic due to one sided pain, feeling dizzy and clammy, and my pregnancy tests were not getting darker the past week. They drew bloods and my HCG was 48, obviously way too low and upon pelvic exam diagnosed inevitable miscarriage. Nothing happened and still felt totally pregnant. I went back this morning for repeat bloods and my HCG had gone down but only to 41 so they were concerned it is ectopic as it should have dropped to around 24 but said that it won’t be detectable on a scan at this point. And that there’s a good chance it would just resolve itself without any need for intervention, or perhaps I’d need an injection. So I was told to go home and watch closely for symptoms worsening, repeat bloods on Tuesday and try scanning.
I’ve come home and heavy bleeding has started, I also lost what looks like the actual pregnancy. The pain is not severe, just very general painful cramps, heavy bleeding and what appears to be a sac about the size of a pea and what looks like a tiny very dark placenta attached. I don’t actually know that’s what it was, it just looks like that. I’ve obviously been really afraid of it being ectopic because I don’t want it to rupture so would much prefer this to just be a normal and complete miscarriage. Does anybody know if you can have this kind of tissue loss and heavy bleeding but it still be ectopic? Or is this reassuring that it was in fact in my uterus and is now being expelled? I’m obviously devastated but I am so fearful of having to have surgery and lose a tube that I would just feel relieved if I had some reassurance that it’s probably not ectopic but the doctors aren’t really helping me understand what’s going on. If anyone has any experience and can shed some light on this without it being distressing then I’d be really grateful x
