Another csection or VBAC?

I'm having my second baby and my first was a 36 hour labour, emergency section and little one had to be resuscitated. I'm due my consultation in August about what I want to do in regards to another section or VBAC and I just wondered if anyone has any experiences with a second section or a VBAC with having another little one at home? My little boy is 2 in August in due in January and I'm worried about the recovery from a section and not been able to pick up or play with my toddler properly is all 😣 thank you in advance for any replies! Xx

2 friends have both just had second babies after a c section with first. One went for another section one went for VBAC, both super happy with their decision. Sorry maybe that wasn’t too helpful!

I had a section, a VBAC and then chose another section for my last child. The VBAC was stressful with lots of concern from health professionals about scar rupturing and ended up as a ventouse delivery. The elective c section was much calmer and I didn’t find the recovery time any easier after the VBAC with stitches. At least with a section they provide pain relief for the following few days and there is no expectation that you will be up and around as completely normal the next day!

I am the same at Katrina above. One emcs, one VBAC (with a 3rd degree tear and prolapse- they don’t tell you about the risks of a vaginal birth!) and will have a c section for a third baby. I do feel glad that I had a ‘natural’ delivery to have had the experience but the healing was a lot worse and I couldn’t lift my 2 year old for months because of the prolapse. Do you have a vbac clinic/specialist midwife who can support you to make the decision?

One cs. Vbac1 back to back, almost emcs but managed vb just before surgery. Destroyed my undercarriage needed to stay in a week, but he was fine. Vbac2 (because apparently no clinical need for cs) baby brain damaged at birth due to hypoxia. Cerebral palsy.
If you vbac, insist on continuous foetal monitoring. In mine, the machine wasn’t working so a student midwife performed intermittent auscultation. We didn’t realise until afterwards that in some cases there were45 minute gaps and she was just recording the ‘average’ as she couldn’t find FHR.

From reading some of your responses and a lot of stories from women online/statistics it seems an elective section is what I want. My midwife has already said she would suggest a section. Weighing up my options I think it would be best. An elective is a much nicer experience than an emergency I hear? Thank you for your responses too lovelies! X
