Cybex Cloud Z help!

Hi all,

We're expecting our first in October and have been looking at the Cybex Cloud Z with spin base as an option for our carseat.

All the features make it seem amazing; lie flat seat, spinning base, same base for the next stage up, excellent safety rating etc etc.

However, when we went to John Lewis to try it, the salesperson really struggled to get it secured in the base, eventually having to use a lot of force to clip it in and admitting that it shouldn't require that much effort. We think that this was a fault in the display model/repeated use but I wanted to check if anyone else had any similar experiences or could confirm whether it is the one we should go for or not!

Thanks in advance for the help!

We have one, admittedly little one isn’t here yet but I’ve practised putting it in and out the car a few times and it is really easy, can manage with one hand. It literally just clicks into the base by placing it on top. The only thing I find frustrating is that the base continually beeps until it is installed properly, which I can imagine being quite stressful if baby is crying too and you can’t work out what is wrong. But hopefully We will get over that as we get used to using it.

that's excellent help thanks @sunnygirl123!

Did you get the cloud z or the cloud z plus? I'm not sure what the difference is really?!

I didn't realise that the base beeped too, was it the swivel base you have?

Thanks again, I think it might be a case of ordering it and seeing if it works for us and potentially returning it if not.

I didn’t know there was a plus, the box just says cyber cloud z I-size, it is the seat that you can recline flat. Yes we have the swivel base. If the foot isn’t down properly, or the iOSfix points aren’t anchored properly or if the seat isn’t locked in properly it will beep and One of three lights on the front will be red depending on what the issue is so you know what to correct. To be honest it is a great safety feature as when beeping stops you know little one is secure. I’m sure as we get to use it we will becomes pro’s lol

ablisha · 26/07/2020 21:37

@dadfish interesting you said that because we went in to John Lewis for the cybex cloud but the advisor told us to go for the maxi pebble pro instead. The maxi was slightly lighter and softer but strange they put us off the cybex when it's more money!

The only difference between the cloud z and the cloud z plus is the fabric. Same seat and features but more expensive fabric range.

We have one - baby not here yet - but no trouble in terms of fitting on base.

dadfish · 26/07/2020 23:11

thanks @sunnygirl123, the one that the salesperson had was silent, which somewhat confounds it being faulty! It's definitely a bonus having the beep and lights.

@ablisha that is interesting, they were definitely pushing the Maxi-Cosi too, seems super easy to get in and out, it's on the cards, although so is basically every other one at the moment!

@Anaesthetist83, good to know! The range of fabrics and colours are crazy!

Thanks all, whilst we're on it, any thoughts on the Nuna Arra as another lie-flat alternative?

We've bought the Cloud Z from John Lewis- we didn't try it out in store and haven't put the isofix base in yet so I can't answer your Q properly. However I got the seat out to have a go at laying it flat etc and I think it just takes a bit of knack / getting used to the buttons etc. I'm hoping we get our new car ASAP and to just keep practicing so there is no panic once the baby is here!

I think the Cybex gets the best reviews for safety and lie flat and the quality felt great,

dadfish · 27/07/2020 10:15

@NWnature, sounds good, I think it's still top of our list at the moment, might try and find another shop to try it out just to double (triple???) check!

@dadfish I was thinking of getting the cloud Z too, am I right in thinking it's the only 'classic' style (with a handle etc) car seat that has a swivel base? I like the maxi cosi but don't think the base swivels does it?

AdventureAhead · 27/07/2020 10:43

Following this as our baby is also due in October and we are also considering the Cybex Cloud Z.
Also interested to hear if anyone has used the Cybex Sirona (the next size seat that fits on the same Z Base) as we really don't want to have to buy a different base once baby outgrows the Cloud z!

dadfish · 27/07/2020 13:46

@IronMummy28 as far as I know it's the only one that you can swivel and also unclip and one of the few that have a recline option. The other swivel ones aren't carryable if that makes sense.

Have found a local shop that stocks them so will give them a ring and see if we can try theirs in store to make sure it was a faulty unit at John Lewis.

We’ve bought two Cybex cloud Z’s plus the rotating Base Z isofix for the twins we have on the way 👍

I think they are absolutely brilliant! There must be something wrong with the display one as they are super easy to remove etc!
Once they arrive just spend time getting the muscle memory for each manoeuvre before the baby arrives x

FlorenceFlounce · 27/07/2020 16:34

Forgot to say, we got ours online from Winstanley’s Pram World 👌

Anaesthetist83 · 27/07/2020 17:22

That’s where ours came from too
