So uncomfortable - clothes!

I am just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

Maternity clothes seem to be made with the logic that you want them to be tight around your tummy. Leggings especially. And I can’t stand it. Tops ride up at the back.

I’ve been buying clothes too big but as my pregnancy progresses they are just too tight. Are there any maternity clothes that aren’t designed to ‘support’ (strangle!) your bump!

I bought massive maxi dresses in a flowing style rather than fitted. One is maternity and I sized up, the other 2 are not maternity but about 4 sizes up from my normal size. Both times they've been the only things that fit by the end!

I haven't really found that with any maternity clothing, except my maternity jeans, they were too tight in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Maybe you need a bigger size again? Or try under bump styles.

I lived in Dorothy Perkins over-the-bump draped joggers. They're loose and light; and had a nice enough shape that they didn't look entirely slobby with a good pair of shoes and a smartish top.

I’m just living in jersey maxi dresses - I have a couple from the new look maternity range that just skim over bump (38 weeks so not planning any more shopping for a while). Very relieved it’s summer tbh!

Problem is I do like something on my legs as I get a bit sweaty and a bit of chub rub! (I have thick thighs!)

I’ve tried going up a size but I think it’s the design. I think maternity clothes are made with the assumption you want that tight support but I don’t! I remember my mum having knickers with a built in support panel back in the day, they are a bit like that!

I'm the same thigh rub wise! Currently 30 weeks and bought some special chub rub asos own make maternity knickers. They aren't very flattering and are a hideous tan colour but it's made wearing jersey dresses a dream! Think they were about £8 a month ago.

Yes to getting chub rub shorts and wearing loose dresses. Under bump things won't have any sort of panel over your bump though.

Unfortunately if you're nearing the end it's normal to find anything and everything uncomfortable.

Under bump jeans/leggings/trousers etc and smock style tops or peplum type. So they're gathered under the boobs and floaty below. Dorothy perkins was great for me

I’m the same, don’t like anything tight on the bump. When searching for granny pants for my hospital bag, I came across some Asda cotton high waisted massive knickers which have been amazing. Went up two sizes and already wearing them at 37 weeks because it’s so much more comfy pulling them up on bump rather than wearing normal knickers and leggings. I also picked up some massive smock dresses from primark in the sale, again in two sizes bigger. Both about £7 each and much more comfortable than the £30+ “maternity” things I tried out in other shops!
