Broken filling

Hi I’m just wondering if anyone has had the same situation or if there’s any dentists that can advise?I’m 32 weeks pregnant and I had a broken filling and tooth a month ago and managed to get into the dentist (which was hard enough with everything going on at the moment) and he filled it with a temporary filling but today that has come out and there’s just the old amalgam filling showing which is chipped and someone mentioned that they can leak mercury which I’m now panicking about as I have a horrible taste in my mouth and made the mistake of googling. And it’s the weekend so can’t ring the dentist until Monday. Will it be ok until then as I won’t get pain in it because it’s had a route canal and will be impossible to get into an emergency dentist if I’m not in pain.

Nhs24 and you'll be seen at one of their dental hospitals?

My filling fell out around 28 weeks and I got an emergency appt for a temporary filling and antibiotics.
36 weeks (last week) that then fell out and I was in agony. I ended up having to have the tooth removed at short notice.

Thank you for the replies I tried ringing 111 but they won’t see me with me not being in pain it’s not classed as an emergency they will only give me advice on keeping it clean until I can hopefully get my dentist to see me on Monday. When it fell out originally they wouldn’t see me for 3 months until I finally found a dentist that was willing to see me and put a temporary filling in.

Your midwife may be able to advise re the taste/mercury.

Also, even though it's a root canal tooth, if the tooth is cracked below the gum line then it can't be fixed with a filling.

Most dentists are now back to some kind of "normality" re emergency treatment so you should be able to be seen by the practice that did the repair already, hopefully ASAP. Good luck x
