Pregnancy pillow?

Is it worth getting one? People recommend them but I'm not really sure what they do! I'm 24 weeks and I'm reasonably comfortable sleeping on my side but it's starting to get slightly comfy.

Any thoughts? And it so, any recommendations?

Thanks!

Slightly less comfy I meant!

I had a dreamgenii. I can't remember paying full price but I really did love the pillow.

loveskaka · 23/07/2020 20:15

U will Defo need a pillow later on x

AnnaSW1 · 23/07/2020 20:17

I absolutely loved mine

bee222 · 23/07/2020 20:19

I have a dreamgenii. If I don’t use it I wake up during the night with hip pain. It also stops me rolling onto my back.

DJBebe · 23/07/2020 20:19

I am 30 weeks and i use a normal pillow to put between my legs during the night and that is enough to feel very comfortable so don't think I'll get one but some of my friends have used a maternity pillow and were happy with it.

sel2223 · 23/07/2020 20:19

I only needed one from about 30/31 weeks.
37 weeks now and it's a god send

RowboatsinDisguise · 23/07/2020 20:23

I didn’t use one in my first pregnancy. I’m 25 weeks into my second pregnancy and find a pillow between my legs is fine so I probably won’t bother again. I like to change position a lot and can imagine I’d drive DH mad having to reposition an enormous pillow all night!

Trufflepuffpuff · 23/07/2020 20:47

Hmm ok thanks all. I'm looking at the Dreamgenii then - is it worth it? To be honest I'm willing to pay for a good night's sleep!

Another vote for dream genii. Wouldn’t be without mine (now at 28 weeks). Comfy but most importantly, stops me rolling.

Rosieeeee · 23/07/2020 21:07

I got the dreamgenii early on so not sure how much difference it's made to my comfort as I've got bigger but it's not stupidly big like some of the others and I kept waking up worrying about rolling onto my back so I was glad I got it as it stops this!

JSLACEFAMILY · 23/07/2020 21:09

Definitely get a dreamgenii (or 'nest' as my DH calls it) if you can. Mine has even come on holiday with me to a caravan this week lol. I got mine with a coupon from the Emma's diary app, think it was 20% off and I'm sure it's still available now.

Trufflepuffpuff · 23/07/2020 21:27

Oh great tip, thanks @JSLACEFAMILY ! I've just had a look and found one for £35.

fluffy banana? The best thing ever! Later on you can use it as a guard for baby to not roll off the bed, a barrier to whatever you don't want them to reach and as a pillow on a daily basis :)

bluebell94 · 23/07/2020 22:03

Another dreamgenii recommendation! Though it did take me a bit getting used to and hate it on hot nights (being surrounded by something!). I definitely manage a good nights sleep with it most of the time and it has helped my back pain

BelfastNonBlonde · 24/07/2020 00:28

Definitely worth it

Dream genii here also

AncientRainbowABC · 24/07/2020 00:49

Another vote for Dreamgenii. I was very sceptical but that pillow really was helpful in the third trimester, both because of comfort and because it stopped me from rolling onto my back in the later stages, which isn’t recommended. It helps prevent rolling because it’s got a bit that goes alongside your lower back as well as your front. I then used it to BF sometimes and later still for tummy time to prop up the baby and ultimately in a “nest” shape when she was bigger and learning to sit but could still occasionally fall backwards. So it had about 18 months’ use all in. The pillowcase is removable so you can wash it.

Sassy14 · 25/07/2020 05:54

@Trufflepuffpuff yes you will need a pregnancy pillow, especially later on! Smile I have the Dream Genii and it's amazing xx

MBM18 · 25/07/2020 06:15

Dreamgenii 100%
I remember looking at it in John Lewis and hesitating to buy it, it was £50 and I thought do I really need. So so happy I bought it! I have it stored away nicely for my next pregnancy.

EasyPeasyHappyCheesy · 25/07/2020 06:31

I had a theraline one and I loved it... More than my husband he would say. I used it all through pregnancy and then whilst breastfeeding and it allowed me to breastfeed lying down without hurting my back as I lay down on it. And I now use it to prevent my toddler from rolling over. I was very sceptical but oh I love it

MrsN2121 · 25/07/2020 06:53

I'm currently 32 weeks and have no need for any extra pillows, maybe wait and see if you feel uncomfortable before you pay out for one.

Rosieredapples · 25/07/2020 06:56

It's so worth it, I've had to replace mine several times as I've not parted with it even though my kids are basically adults now.
It's so comfy.

Keepingcomfy · 25/07/2020 07:39

I'm 19 weeks, bought a Dreamgenii yesterday and it's the best sleep I've had for so long. I love it!

Trufflepuffpuff · 25/07/2020 11:09

Oh I'm so pleased, I've ordered a dream genii and it's arriving tomorrow! Can't wait to have a good night's sleep.

I got a Nana & Dee one from Amazon for £50. I got mine at 12 weeks due to sore hips. I tried a pillow between my knees and whilst it helped, it is no where near as good as my pregnancy pillow. It supports me on every side and means I can lean back and take the pressure off my hips without actually lying on my back. I may keep it after the baby is born!
