Hi
Long story short I am 39+5 and on Tuesday baby had a very quiet day and went in with reduced movements. Monitoring was ok (and yesterday she was very active again so feel reassured) - I didnt want to be induced so they offered a scan to check that all is well and I also had a sweep.
The scan is this afternoon but I'm just not sure what to expect! Has anyone had a scan this late? Can they see much if baby is so big? What will they be looking for? Do I need to turn up with a full bladder like previous scans?

I had scans at 38 weeks for reduced movement they did a check over if baby, checked the fluid levels and s see Leo the blood flow to the cord.

They showed me the parts of baby they were checking on

I was induced both times as the scan showed my placenta was failing and with my youngest there wasn’t enough fluid

Hey I'm 34 weeks so a little behind you and had many episodes of baby not moving. She's a pain. Babies been head down but the sonographer has managed to get all the measurements. There mainly looking for flow to the baby thru the cord and the heartbeat. They may measure babies growth but I've been told it's harder as you get further along because they have to measure the leg and if babies anything like mine she didn't cooperate so weight may not be accurate.
And no you dont need a full bladder. Hope that helps

I had an NHS growth scan just before 37 weeks so a few weeks behind you but I didnt have a full bladder.
I was amazed at how much could be seen....the sonographer talked me through everything, even showing me the wisps of hair on her head and a close up of her sucking her thumb and blinking.
