Can I ask for induction at 40 weeks?

Hi all,
Just looking for some advice. I'm currently 40 weeks with my first baby.

I have a growth scan tomorrow as my last one showed babies abdominal circumference growth had slowed down whilst all his other measurements had increased.
The scan was due to reduced movements, I've had 3 episodes of reduced movements and 3 growth scans.

After my scan tomorrow I'll be seeing the consultant to discuss the findings. Will I be able to request a induction from him now I'm over 40 weeks?

I'm more than happy to wait for baby to make his appearance when he's ready, but I feel that it would be safer for him to be born now, due to the repeated episodes of reduced movement and the repeated growth scans?

There’s no harm in asking

I was induced all 3 times due to slowed growth/reduced movements/reduced fluid. 39+6, 35+2, 38+4. So they will do it if they think it's necessary.

You can ask - definitely if you want an induction then repeated episodes of reduced movements and being 40 weeks is reason enough. They may raise it with you without having to request anyway. If your scan shows any further growth reduction they will likely recommend induction.
There’s no harm to induction at this stage (actually proven benefit, see ARRIVE trial) so if it’s what you want then stand your ground.
On the other hand if the growth is good and movements back to normal then you could consider stretch and sweeps and wait for natural labour. Personal preference! Good luck.
