Hi. I am thinking -

Matb1 form
Baby box registration (Scotland)
Ask about glucose testing for gestational diabetes (high BMI and old mum😁)

Anything else? I have had whooping cough jag.
Thank you

Is it a f2f or telephone appointment? If f2f then the main thing will be checking your BP, urine etc and possibly listening to babies heartbeat.

Measuring bump doesn't normally start till 28 weeks, GD test is normally done at 28 weeks too....same with whooping cough jab (although you've had yours already so not relevant to you). It maybe different in Scotland but my area cancelled all appointments between 16 and 28 weeks as there really isn't much to check between.

Sheera1 · 22/07/2020 11:58

It is f2f. The others were all over the phone.

Oh, and my area dont give out the matb1 form till after 24 weeks but, again, that might vary from place to place

sel2223 · 22/07/2020 12:01

@Sheera1 it'll be more about checking you and your health then. It'll probably just be a very quick appointment but should provide some reassurance that all is going ok.

Sheera1 · 22/07/2020 12:01

Oft. I thought for maternity pay your work has to lodge the form with HR by week 25 so that is cutting it fine. Might just be my work though!

My trust only does 16 week and 28 week appointments and they give the mat form for work at 28 weeks, so I am pretty sure it doesnt need to be in by 25 weeks. I am 25 weeks and my workplace hasn't even asked me when I am going on mat leave lol.

I say main thing is check urine for GD and heartbeat. After that, there isnt much to be asked. It's that middle time of pregnancy where not much happens.

sel2223 · 22/07/2020 12:06

I only got mine at my 28 week appointment (it's normally given at the 25 week appt in my area but those were all cancelled). Work never queried it.

Do you need a maternity redemption form in Scotland too? I got one at the same time as the matb1 form and have used it for a prescription and dental treatment.

Oreoreo · 22/07/2020 12:08

Hello, I’m also based in Scotland and I got my matb1 form at the appointment around 21/22 weeks, along with the baby box registration. That was my first f2f appointment since booking in. I think they give the matb1 from 20 weeks here, might be wrong though! As previous poster said, all that happened at mine was checking general, blood pressure etc and they did a Doppler to hear the baby’s heartbeat :)

Oreoreo · 22/07/2020 12:13

Oh, @sel2223 is right, you get that form at this appointment as well (or I got mine at this appointment) totally forgot about it!

icedaisy · 22/07/2020 12:15

Flu jab?

I had Dd October and was given it few weeks after whooping cough.

This time due December and being given it 26 weeks.

sel2223 · 22/07/2020 12:17

@icedaisy you only get the flu jab between October and April

icedaisy · 22/07/2020 12:21

@sel2223 interesting. I got it September for October baby, and was very glad when dh then got flu December.

Just thought if op 22 weeks be due November so would be given it?

sel2223 · 22/07/2020 12:25

@icedaisy maybe it varies from area to area?

sel2223 · 22/07/2020 12:36

In my area, they only give the flu jab in the winter months so, if due in November, you'd get it at the begjnning of Oct (or end of Sept depending on when they start doing it).
It's worth the OP asking though as could be different in Scotland

NelliesWellies · 22/07/2020 12:39

@SqidgeBum - the onus is on you to inform your employer when you intend to start your maternity leave and the date of the week your baby is due (this date is generally on your MATB1), rather than on them to ask you. This must be done 15 weeks before your due date (i.e. by your 25th week of pregnancy). So don’t wait for them to ask you.

There is more info on the ACAS website: www.acas.org.uk/your-maternity-leave-pay-and-other-rights/telling-your-employer-youre-pregnant

Sheera1 · 22/07/2020 12:41

Ooh medical redemption form. Will remember that one too. Our flu jags are Oct to March here.

Thabks all. I just knew I would come away and have forgotten something and my midwife doesn't answer calls or texts so wanted to get it all in my head while I am in front of her. X

@Sheera1 Scotland here too 👍🏻 Had my first f2f appointment at 22weeks. Was in and out in not even 10 minutes! Got MATB1, listened to heartbeat with Doppler, baby box registration, gave me another f2f appointment for 28 weeks, and have me a whopping big chat on contraception and tried to make me decide what I wanted to be discharged from hospital with after the birth. Felt like a 15 year old 😳 lol.

Also high BMI here and my appointment letter for my Gestational Diabetes year was in my pregnancy notes folder when I was given my notes at my 12 week scan. Nobody mentioned it to me, was just in my folder 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hopefully things will change within the next wee while but they have changed the GTT to just a single blood test in my area. They’re not doing the full test 🙄 had mine the other day.

SJChief · 22/07/2020 18:09

Definitely check with your workplace handbook for policy around MatB1 - I'm in England and my midwife was going to give it to me at 28 weeks but (although HR never mentioned it!) if I'd waited until then I'd have missed the week 25 cut off for enhanced maternity pay. I just phoned and asked for it early and they were happy to provide it at 22 weeks.

KLM19 · 22/07/2020 18:46

@Sheera1 Scotttish mummy too... England is different it does need to be filed by 25 weeks.. you will get it at ur 22w app also ur exemption certificate :) and baby box.. you shouldnt need to ask for anything fo... midwife will cover it all.. I received my box around 32 weeks! Was great!

RestorationInsanity · 22/07/2020 18:52

Re MATB1, my trust has informed me that they will not be handing out before 28 weeks regardless of circumstance so if your employer has an issue receiving it after 25 weeks you might want to raise it with them.

KLM19 · 22/07/2020 19:12

@RestorationInsanity Scotland is different.

RestorationInsanity · 22/07/2020 21:31

Ah ok!
