Cramping and (sorry TMI) Diarrhoea

I am 7+6 and for the last 3 days I have been getting quite severe diarrhoea. It's accompanied with a painful stomach ache in the middle of my abdomen. I have also been cramping a lot since about 5 weeks - to the point where I'm having to take paracetamol for it. I don't have a temperature and haven't eaten anything that could have made me ill.

Should I be concerned? I haven't had any spotting or bleeding so I'm not sure if it's normal.

This is my second pregnancy and I do remember having some cramping with my first but this definitely feels worse.

I do also have some nausea and am sick roughly 2-3 times a day. I'm trying to stay hydrated with small sips of water.

I don't know whether this is normal or whether I need to speak to someone? Any advice welcome. Thank you!

So sorry you're feeling poorly! I'd definitely call the GP right away or even A&E or early pregnancy assessment unit. This sounds quite severe and yes, it can be connected to a miscarriage or even ectopic pregnancy.

I had bad pains and diarrhea in early weeks too. Then I eventually started bleeding at 12 weeks and I totally freaked out... In the end, the bleeding wasn't related to the pain and diarrhea, they turned out to be "just" severe sickness. Getting checked in the early pregnancy assessment unit was the way to go. The nurses there were really professional, gentle and reasurring. They see cases like this all the time and they will want to have you checked - better safe than sorry!

Thank you so much for coming back to me.

I ended up going for a scan and the little bean looked healthy so that was a relief, they didn't really explain why I had been unwell but just said to keep an eye on it.

@JBCG That's fabulous, I'm happy for you!

I guess there's not really an explanation they can give, some of us just get harsher pains and nausea than the others... Mine put me out of work ever since week 4 - I basically spent the entire pregnancy without income (I'm self-employed), while some friends had no pains and nausea at all and worked with no problem until 38 weeks. The reality of how different pregnancy is for everyone Shock

You just take care of yourself and don't hesitate to contact the doctors whenever you're concerned something is off Flowers
