Haemorrhage at 14 weeks- advice please

I was rushed to hospital in an ambulance on Monday after a haemorrhage at home, I’m 14 weeks. I was kept in high dependency and was told to prepare for the worst...it was really awful. Even after a scan confirmed a heartbeat the doctor said ‘the baby is likely to die tonight’. They scanned me twice over the next two days and the baby was absolutely fine, they couldn’t tell where the bleeding was coming from and so discharged me. I had a really small haemorrhage at 11 weeks and have spotted every day since then...I’m still bleeding now but it’s brown as opposed to red. Has anyone gone through something similar? I’m so anxious. I’m still feeling very sick and am also really anaemic, so that’s making it all a bit worse. My next midwife appointment is at 16 weeks, it feels like an age away. I’m starting to look a bit pregnant but don’t want to tell anyone I am as I just feel like I’m going to have a miscarriage... :(

No advice just offering a handhold what a scary time for you. Have the hospital not offered any advice or just said prepare for the worst? I've had 2 losses at 7 and 14 weeks but babies had already passed before loss. Hugs xx

I bled loads for 6 weeks with my daughter, from weeks 7-12. I thought it was all over the every time and all was ok. It’s more common than you think. Just make sure you rest up and take it easy until the bleeding stops. Good luck.

Thanks so much for your replies. No, the only thing they all kept saying was ‘every bleed is dangerous for the baby’. It’s annoying not knowing where the blood is coming from, as I’m really scared...there was so much blood on Monday that I needed a blood transfusion. This sounds awful, but I am very realistic and I know I might lose the baby- if I’m going to I just hope it’s sooner rather than later. I’m sorry for your losses @Needingsupportplease x

Yeah I can understand why you feel like that I am so sorry you're in this situation. Should of said I have a 14 month old who was pregnancy number 3 who I poured with blood with from 7-17 weeks with big clots but was always told baby was fine and not to worry but seems your stuck in the unknown which is the hardest bit. Definitely try to rest as much as possible and look after yourself x

Yes, I had a haemorrhage at 13+3. There was so much blood I couldn't believe there was any hope. Literally filled a metal bedpan. I was subjected to a pretty horrific internal examination, when they finally found my cervix through the pool of blood they said that though it was closed, it would open at any moment and it was all over. Had to wait 4 hours for a scan. There she was.
DD is now 8. The bleed turned out to be due to a subchorionic haematoma. It had resolved itself by the 20 week scan. Fingers crossed for you OP and an unmumsnetty hug Thanks

Thank you so much! I can’t tell you how much more hopeful I feel after reading this @Needingsupportplease and @indemMUND
I think I was more worried that they didn’t diagnose it as anything other than a ‘threatened miscarriage’. But I’m so reassured thank you all xxx
