Looking for something not too pricey but easy to use.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I got a Philips AVENT electric one and I think it's good, but haven't tried other models so can't really compare. Electric is definitely better than the manual I had with my first born though.

If you just want to collect excess 'let-down' milk then have a look at silicone pumps such as Hakka, I got one cheap on Amazon and it's great for catching leaks while feeding on the other side.

@erised24 Haven’t used it yet but I also bought the Phillips Avent one. Was planning on buying a double but some Boots stores have the single one down to £34.50 at the moment 😱 it’s £137.50 online so decided to grab it and see how I get on and maybe get a double later if I need it 😊

Definitely go electric. If you're just doing the odd pump then cheaper is fine but if you want to pump regularly I'd really recommend getting a hospital grade pump.

I pumped twice a day for 5 months & had a Medela swing which, although wasn't cheap, was worth the money.

The Bella baby that you can get on Amazon. It's about 30 quid and electric. More than one person in my NCT group used it and it was great.

Medela swing if you can afford it or an ardo calypso.

My fave at the moment though is my haaka silicone pump....that thing is magic!

Are you planning to pump a lot or just here and there while breastfeeding?
If you will be mainly bfing I'd recommend a hakaa, you can get one for around £10 and they're great for using while you feed from the other side.

I have a hakaa and get between 1-5oz a time. I also use an elvie wearable pump which is fab as I'm not 'stuck' pumping with it being hands free, it's a little pricier but was definitely worth it!

I can't give a recommendation, but I had the Medela Swing Double (electric) and it actually put me off pumping as it was so noisy! In comparison to the small electric unit I borrowed from the hospital it was like an aeroplane engine.

Wish I found out the model that I borrowed as I would have bought that, but as it stood because I was expressing only and waited not only for a pump to be delivered but then hated using it so much that I neglected expressing (and when I did it was barely anything) I eventually gave up altogether unfortunately.

And I just had a quick Google and found that the one I used in the hospital was an Ardo Calypso.

Wish I did a bit of research and bought the same one instead of going for the Medela as I heard good things about it.

That being said, the Medela does have good resale value due to the brand. I sold mine on for pretty much what I paid.

I bought a second hand ameda lactaline (£50) and replaced the contact parts (£20) so all in £70 which would have cost around £200 new. That's my favourite. I have an elvie I absolutely detest and was a waste of £250. What others have said about the haaka I second, although I got the NatureBond.
